Felt okay for the first about 50 minutes, then lousy. Combination of being out of shape and in the heat. Doesn't bode too well for the Billygoat ... just hoping that it is about 50 degrees that day!

Navigation was a bit sluggish, but okay. Big problem was stupidity: leaving the road crossing I read the 8 as a 6, and in spite of thinking, gee have I done that many controls already, I headed off. Got in the circle before I noticed it was an 8 not a 6 (overprinted on a marsh, and I am pretty sure I am going to need reading glasses at my next eye appointment ... but still stupid) ... then had to go a long way to get to 5, where I should have headed. Ah well. Judging from Peggy's splits, I think I lost around 7-8 minutes. Not stellar, but the rest was okay.

Still about 80 degrees, but not humid at least. I was not feeling stunning, after 3 hours of watching Ethan's games in the hot sunshine, but I was desperate to run.

Started flat, then did 2 x Mass Ave to Gray and 1 x all the way to the top of the hill. Not fast, just up. I've got a long way to go to be ready for Cranmore at the end of June!!!

Back has been feeling a bit iffy - need to do some strength work to prevent it getting worse ...

Watching '4 Minutes,' which was definitely inspiring. Had to stretch for quite a while afterward ... to watch the end ... even though I knew the history, it was still inspiring to hear them say, "3:59.4"! I would very happily take 4:59.4 ;-)
