My HR graph tells the tale well. Never really got to full race pace, and it only slowed from there. Very limited gas in the tank - hard time shuffling back from the finish to download, even tho it was a km, on trail, I could only jog the flats and downs. So glad I opted for Red, not Blue.

After nearly 4 hours of running/hiking around the past 2 days, and 3 just on Sat., plus limited food after the Night O', wasn't enough to replenish strength by the AM.

The whole family was so exhausted at this point, that we bailed before the fun-relay thing.

Overall really impressed by QOC organization on the weekend. Great food, great logistics, warm cabins, very affordable, good exercises.

PM route choice exercise - initially done with Videlin, then adding Hannah to the mix, after her partner, AJ, dropped out with a bruised ankle. Hannah's pretty fit these days - quite a fair match with me & Videlin was generally putting in a good effort too. (Are they getting faster, or me slower ;)

Night O with AJ - we knew the Culberg's times when we started, but just weren't moving as fast. I think we both need better headlights - and I think I'd add a belt-light like Karl had too for better shadow-depth perception - to do well at night again. My process of upgrading my headlamp to something in the $50 range, about once a decade, is perhaps the right expense level for how frequently I night O' - but not good if I want to win :)

We might also be tall (+ in my case old) scared-of-falling while running through the woods at night.

When you step back a moment, and consider explaining to 90% of your friends what Night O' is, and even better pointing out the window at night into a dark forest and saying - we run through there, and find multiple specific locations - racing each other to do it fast - it's crazy impressive.
