Orienteering race 1:24:45 [4] 13.25 km (6:24 / km)
ahr:164 max:173 shoes: O-VJ Integrator Spikes

Hickory Run Score O'. Boy do I love that forest. The course was fine. Clem & I picked the same loop. He took off fast and blew past # 1 before I did. I turned around first and got #1 (thinking he was already there) and then he caught me near 2, which he also over shot, but only be a few seconds. He ran by me to 3, aggressive running hard through terrain which I was double-checking a bit more.
I blew # 4 bad, taking a fairly direct route, but then pulling up a bit short. At which point I saw what I initially thought was a new unmapped building, and immediately corrected myself saying "no, it's a building, it's on the map" and reattacked from there. Unfortunately my initial thought was right so my reattack completely missed the control and hit a field beyond the control, from we a 3rd attack worked. The good news is my 2nd and 3rd attacks were pretty good from a compass pace point of view. Unfortunately on the 1st I didn't pace count, and on the 2nd I started from the wrong place.

After that point, I didn't see Clem until the very last control which had a short dog-leg section - apparently I'd been reeling him in a bit (as usual with me being faster than he is after about 45 minutes, and the opposite being true for the first 45 minutes...)

The rivalry with Clem made for a pretty fun event. Esp. in the last 30 minutes as I passed various people who pronounced things like "he's about 2 minutes ahead of you". I he weren't there, I'd probably just be whining about the vegetation (which was moderately unpleasant as usual) and not pushing nearly as hard.

Hmm.. I forget. Gotta logs this stuff more promptly. At least the FR305 remembers parts of it.

Running intervals 6:34 [5] 2.0 km (3:17 / km)
ahr:160 max:182 shoes: R-NB 891's

6 x 400's but the last two became 200. 3 minute cycle with walking only between. Dirt track. Normally I do a jogging rest, but with a RF 97 degrees I figured standing in the shade might be better. I knew Sam's recent times, but I still couldn't pull off her numbers racing the clock alone... Now that I look again, it's even worse than I thought. Perhaps I should look and the bright side as it suggests Sam is in shape for a WOC Sprint A final.
81, 81,
78 (focussed on feet landing far back / falling into the run),
80, 37, 37

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2] 1.4 km (7:09 / km)

Hot.

4x Mt. Joy cannon sign to parking lot at top. Goal was 3:30 each.
3:48, 3:30, 3:30, 3:30. Pretty uncomfortable to push like that. Having company would help. Track intervals conflicted with 2 different meetings at work though...

Running long 1:43:42 [2] 16.37 km (6:20 / km) +50m 6:14 / km

Mercer County (NJ) park - stopped on the way back from JFK. Thought I might run around the lake and found a whole lot of trails trying to do so. Almost made it, but rogainers were actively practicing and I decided not to run in their right-of-way as the trail petered out into the fairway...

Running 1:27 [2] 0.21 km (6:54 / km)

A little jog with Oriana. Last whole day with the family before travel and got lazy in the evening when my last chance for a run came by. I think I need to start a streak again...
