Running warm up/down 8:00 [2] 0.67 mi (11:57 / mi) +10m 11:25 / mi
shoes: O-Black/Green VJ Spikes

Loops on the ice/snow warmup. Slow. Somehow tore a cleat off these _old_ O' shoes on the race today.

Orienteering race 1:13:00 [4] 8.4 km (8:41 / km) +325m 7:17 / km
shoes: O-Black/Green VJ Spikes

2nd race in a row to forget HR mon/GPS. Do I not care? I certainly was curious, as I felt like I was very inconsistently pushing myself. E.g. several times I had to remind myself to push and the pace picked up notably when I did (only to drift back down, I'm sure, until I noticed again.)

Several interesting route choices, esp. to 10-13 & 16.
I think I hosed 9-10 (too straight & too much green mid-route - I think a little righter on trails would've been best, but left was decent too...) Down on 11, straight on 12 (good I think), then partially road, to the field on the way to 13 (I think dead-straight would've been better, but I'm not sure how the Med-green was... On 15-16, I crossed the stream and took the trail just a bit, then stayed in the reentrant R of the line, crossing the stream again, then again at the road to the trail, and went up the white-creek to the big trail, hitting about 20m right of the little trail (as intended.) Executed the route okay, but I think I should've gone left.

Running 20:00 [2] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: R-NB Grey Shoes

Had a flight SJC-LAX-PHL, starting at 6am. Due to the ice storm, LAX-PHL was cancelled, rebooked, cancelled, re-routed...

At 2pm I had a 90 minute layover at PHX, so I took a page from Sandra's book, and went for a run on the roof of the Phoenix airport parking lot. 20 minutes of loops around my bags... in 95 degree bright sun, but nice breeze and desert dry so it wasn't too bad. After getting back through security, I didn't have much time to clean up - my apologies to those I squeeze in between on the flight to Chicago. Glad I have a real ticket on the 6:30am flight to PHL (arriving around 9:30) - the standby line is at least 50 deep...

Running intervals 12:04 [4] 2.0 mi (6:02 / mi) +10m 5:56 / mi

2xmile, aiming for 6 minutes, got it on the first one.. 5:58 + 6:06.

Running warm up/down 50:00 [2] 5.0 mi (10:00 / mi) +10m 9:56 / mi
shoes: R-NB Grey Shoes

Fell on the sidewalk about 6 minutes into the run. Tripped over an uneven edge. Of course I landed on my Right elbow, which means I've fallen on it 6 times in 6 runs in the last month. At least I made it more than a week since the last fall...

Note
weight:69.9kg

Both Sergei & Ksenya were saying, at the Goat, that it looked like I'd lost weight. And sure enough, a check on the scale confirms I'm down over 10lbs on ~4 months ago. If that's not just a scale anomaly, I suspect that's a big part of why I'm getting faster. I wonder how fast I'll be @ G ?

Running hills 1:30:00 [2] 8.0 mi (11:15 / mi) +600m 9:07 / mi

Rancho San Antonio. Farm, middle ridge, down half of power-poles, then down the creek & back. Started in the pretty-darn-dark w/no headlamp & got to watch the sun rise from the ridge. Very pretty.

Running 43:00 [2] 4.3 mi (10:00 / mi)
ahr:130 shoes: R-NB Grey Shoes

Paved, around Campbell

Running tempo 19:00 [4] 4.1 km (4:38 / km)
ahr:160 shoes: R-NB Grey Shoes

Two x ~10 minute very weak surges. Not sure why my HR & pace were so low. Had major challenges pushing. 7am PDT, no caffiene, but did have oatmeal at 6am...? Had major bathroom needs 20 minutes into the run & I don't normally run in a suburban neighborhood, so there's normally forest or a VF restroom nearby. After 10 minutes of walking, I found a large bush near a fence and decided that was the best on offer... then 1 block later I found a city park with an open restroom...

Running 29:41 [2] 2.97 mi (10:00 / mi) +40m 9:36 / mi
shoes: R-NB Grey Shoes

A little jogging around the VF Mt. Joy loop of VFG III. Course had been picked up nicely already, so all I picked up was some non-O'-related trash.
