Orienteering 1:30:00 [1] 3.5 km (25:43 / km) +70m 23:23 / km
shoes: O-Mixed purple & black

2/3 of White with the kids (DNF) then 2 (short-leg) Red controls. Moslty walking with a few running steps when the kids were running. My leg isn't ready for running as it's sore this evening - after ~30-40 total steps of running - and it was sore during those steps. Probably not a set-back, but worth doing another hmesi set...

11AM: Backwards, @Audubon, level 5, elev. 1, 54 rpm

Walking (Grass) 15:00 [1] 0.38 mi (39:27 / mi)
ahr:100

Leg a little sore during - not too bad.

Strength (Stretch + Ecc. Ham.) 15:00 [1]

11AM & 4 PM & 9 PM: H/M/E/S/I

Hamstring pretty good today (rarely sore except during exercise/stretching)

11AM: Blew off swimming again this morning at the gym. Although I think I'm getting close to the point where I can do cardio work on the Elliptical. Machine 6, Level 5, backwards, ~52 cpm.

Pain: only a little burn coming on by 9pm - after a really bad self-PT day - only did one set w/o heat or ice (this was part of it.) I've really got to stop coding and go back to manage the project I'm on. I can't do both well, and the stress of trying to do so has made work not fun, and spilled over to both family and fitness in terms of impact. It's just nice to actually get something done (coding) instead of simply keeping track of everything.

Strength (Stretch + Ecc. Ham.) 5:00 [1]

11AM: 10x the eccentric hams. (I'm supposed to do 10x ecc. hams, 4x/day)

Strength 5:00 [1]

9PM: H/M/S/I + 10x the eccentric hams. (I'm supposed to do 10x ecc. hams, 4x/day) - only 2 today...

Other Aerobic (Elliptical trainer) 10:00 [1]
ahr:95 shoes: R-Champion Grey/Orange

backwards @ PT, level 5, 50 strides per minute (that's correct - I guess I'm just used to slow legs...)

Walking (Treadmill, backwards) 10:00 [1] 0.28 mi (35:41 / mi) +42m 24:21 / mi
shoes: R-Champion Grey/Orange

Strength (Stretch + Ecc. Ham.) 15:00 [1]

PT Stretches (many, mostly hams, some IT), plus concentric strength into table ~1/3 effort 20x5second hold, eccentric hams (with help), deep tissue massage - she really pushed quite directly on the muscle/tendon/bone junction area today.

Pain: light burn on/off during PT, quelled by ice (and deep tissue work?) - and felt totally normal for the next 3 hours, including a lot of sitting and some standing - that's great! I wonder if I should get better at the deep-tissue crush/massage work myself and do that daily?

Other Aerobic (Elliptical) 10:00 [1]
ahr:90

@ Gym, elliptical backwards, resistance 4, height min., ~90 cycles/min (ed. note - must have been 45...)
Very little pain at the end of the Gym set, but I don't have ice at the gym and now it's burning more than normal (getting annoying to sit) about 1 hour later... Perhaps I should bring my own ice. Or only do Elliptical/walking every other day?

Walking (Treadmill, backwards) 5:00 [1] 0.13 mi (38:30 / mi) +20m 26:02 / mi
shoes: R-Champion Grey/Orange

Strength 20:00 [1]

Upper body, calves, ankles, eccentric hamstring, lots of hamstring stretching

Strength (Stretching & some hamstri) 5:00 [1]

Noon: Misc stretching an hour after the Gym. leg burning a bit.
1PM: Got to work after lunch just in time to grab some ice. That calmed the burn down.
6PM: Heat/Massage/Eccentric/Stretch/Ice - definitely burning during the Eccentric & Stretching - not severe but near the upper end of the last 2-weeks worth of pain.

Pain:In the last two weeks the improvement in pain has been less steady, with some days seeming worse than the day before. But I guess my leg-activity is going up a bit... At this rate though it could be months before running, IF it doesn't get suddenly (or gradually) worse at some point...

Note

BTW, I blew off swimming today. I am really, really am hoping I can start doing cardio on an elliptical or treadmill walking-uphill or something, but I'm apparently not there yet as I can only hit an HR of ~90 at levels that threaten to upset the hamstring. Darn. I really don't like swimming. I have to pretend I'm an injured Swedish team member or something, as I've heard some of them got stuck in the pool due to injury over th last few months (but at least they could move their legs.)

Strength 15:00 [1]

After PT I did only 2 sets of Heat/Massage/Stretch/Ice. 2nd (midnight) set did 10x 100% eecentric hamstring. Very low pain as of hte next morning

Other Aerobic (Elliptical) 10:00 [1]

@ PT, level 5, RPM upper 40's (I think it's half of what it should be - I should check this on Thursday) vs. upper 30's a week ago, and low 40's last Thursday.

Walking (Treadmill, backwards) 10:00 [1] 0.28 mi (35:41 / mi) +46m 23:38 / mi
ahr:85 shoes: R-Champion Grey/Orange

HR high and I was warm this AM, not sure why. Leg okay that evening (burning more than the previous day, but less than a week ago) despite increase in pace.

Strength 10:00 [1]

Val wasn't officially in the office and I got her co-worker PT. He didn't seem to be up to her level... he asked questions, I answered with details that Val would absorb and comment on, and he said "hmm", "good" .... Fortunately, Val did the eccentric hamstring pulls & deep tissue work that I'm not sure the other guy seemed to be unsure of what to do. Or maybe he just didn't want to learn the details if I was just seeing him for one day.

Swimming 35:58 [3] 1.0 mi (35:58 / mi)

Pushed (pulled) hard to beat 36 and just barely made it.

Strength (Upper body & Hamstring) 15:00 [1]

Only 2x hamstring H/M/S/I all day, and same the day before.

Good news because it means my hamstring wasn't bugging me enough to remind me to do a lot of stretching (despite a bunch of O' walking on Sunday). But bad, because I should be stretching because it's still not better. For a few days I barely felt it before 10-11 AM, but (as of 3/22) I don't remember when that last happened - I feel it pretty early now. (8-9 again...)
