Walking 30:00 [1] 1.3 mi (23:05 / mi)
(injured)

20 min to work, and misc. around the office. Foot's been burning lightly on and off. Sometimes it doesn't hurt at all, even when walking, which is better than 3-6 days ago, but similar to yesterday.

On ~ 2000mg advil for the last two days.

Note

In my personal experience, typically a hard race, esp. on pavement will cause an injury. Sometimes I have been mildly injured due to a sprint workout, but those have typically healed well. Specific injuries I recall are the most recent, after a 10k race on paved hills, and a 1/2 year toe injury that occurred after a Big Basin race, while running down on a hard gravel road after my feet were really tired from the race.

Also, periods of time where I have done long slow runs have been particularly injury free and well performing. The period from summer 2001 to summer 2002 had many of those runs, but those were reduced substantially after moving to PA, where, working from home, I found it harder to take a 3 hour break to go run. (Harder to escape the wife and kids, than the boss...)

Another period with many of those runs was back in late 1995 when I worked in CT and was in comparable shape to my best ever in late 2002. However, I typically reduced the length of those runs, ran them not quite as slow, and did them with colder legs in the CT winter, and I slowly built up a 1-year case of patellar tendonitis.

Strength 15:00 [1]
(injured)

Some random upper body weights including sit-ups.

Walking 40:00 [1] 1.8 mi (22:13 / mi)
(injured)

20 min. walk to work in early AM, and then lots of non-continuous stuff around the office. Foot almost totally fine after morning walk and only lightly achy later in day.

Still on heavy advil (e.g. 1400mg thus far today), ex. for Aleve (Napoxen Sodium?) last night. Also, iced x3 today. (At work.)

Walking 30:00 [1] 1.5 mi (20:00 / mi)
(injured)

A lot of slow walking around a park, and then a little more later at Chuck-e-cheese... Foot just a little sore. Iced after walk and again later in evening. Took ~1600mg Ibu and 2 aleve for the night.

Consistently in orthotics, but tied relatively loosely.
