Running (Cannock chase Trig Point ) 2:04:50 [5] ** 16.64 mi (7:30 / mi) +573m 6:47 / mi
shoes: Sauconys Guide 4s

Another year, another trig point race - not in the shape I was in for it last year with a poorer training regime over the tail end of 2012 than 2011, so happy with only 2 min slower than last year. (race time as two minutes ish deducted for timed out road crossings).

Enjoyed as ever but found it hard going - 13th overall though, same position as last year, but G had a stormer coming in well under the 2hrs and Little Rob taking the title again.

Just for Schmole Here are my splits (you don't have to read them)

6:38, 7:22, 7:46, 7:19, 6:53, 7:13, 8:14, 8:43, 7:27, 7:43, 7:28, 8:48, 7:40, 7:45, 7:14, 6:42, 6:08

Felt like I was working hard from the start but disappointed that so few were under 7min/mile but on the upside much better than both my mid week runs and only had 3 x miles which were over 8 min/mile (hopefully correspondent with the climbing).

Only got passed by 2/3 people unfortunately one was right at the end...

Good race I'll be back next year

Running warm up/down 7:38 [2] 0.98 mi (7:47 / mi) +2m 7:44 / mi
shoes: Sauconys Guide 4s

Was feeling really stiff and unwieldy this morning so went for a little warm up and threw in some strides to try and fire the legs up a little. Also stopped to stretch in the middle.

Parkrun race (Bushy Parkrun) 18:41 [5] 3.13 mi (5:58 / mi) +2m 5:57 / mi
shoes: Sauconys Guide 4s

Right, so after being so slow for the last couple of days thought I'd go to Bushy for the first time in a long time as there tends to be loads of runners there who are quite swift and might drag me along. Saw Bendover at the start and he encouraged me to start right at the front in fact we basically stood in front of the front row - nothing like a bit of pressure to get you going.

Started off quick but glanced at the Garmin and realised I was way in front of the targeted 6min miles, so eased off slightly and actually held the pace quite well, ended up just off the back of a group, but kept managed to surge back onto them, which was good and passed most of them apart from two who broke away earlier on, in the final straight.

Much better than Tuesday and can actually see improvement is possible - plan is to keep returning to Bushy throughout the training cycle to judge improvement.

Enjoyed

1 5:53.3 1.00 5:53
2 6:03.3 1.00 6:03
3 6:00.6 1.00 6:01
4 :44.5 0.13 5:30

Running warm up/down 28:31 [3] 3.04 mi (9:23 / mi)
shoes: Sauconys Guide 4s

Warm down round some bits of Bushy I haven't seen with Bendover, was good and something I need to take the time to do more as usually just chuck my clothes back on and bimble back to the station after....

Urgh now that was hard work!

Slower than last night but was a B2B medium run set, so can live with it.

On the up sides my knee doesn't hurt like it did last night.

Bit slow really, but only 52 seconds down on my average for Paris so an ok position for this early in the training cycle.

Nice loop out round half of Hyde Park back down to a loop of Battersea then along the river and home. Bit annoying as distance was measured in km's and pace in min/mile? No idea why but meant I spent half the run converting from one to the other to make sure I covered 11 miles.

1 7:43.2 1.00 7:43
2 7:47.7 1.00 7:48

Parkrun race (Bromley Parkrun) 19:37 [4] 3.18 mi (6:10 / mi) +7m 6:08 / mi
shoes: Inov 8s - Oroc 280s

Well started the year off with a 2nd place at the Parkrun - course was mainly off road and muddy as hell, hence the Orocs.

Time was slower than I wanted, but can't complain that much about it considering the state I was in yesterday. Although course was pretty much flat so.....

Enjoyed the toughness of the course, will have to rerun the course when back in shape as would be interesting to see how quick I could do it.

Good start to the year, but didn't switch the watch back to Km's even though I tried to so, splits were

1 5:57.7 1.00 5:58
2 6:13.1 1.00 6:13
3 6:24.0 1.00 6:24
4 1:04.8 0.19 5:34

Which when compared to what I did the other night on the 4.5miler, as all the miles were faster than what I did then, so a positive.

Plus when I got my text with the result, then I saw I was actually 2 seconds faster than I had been at my previous Parkrun...

Note
(rest day)

Urgh, seem to have had a bad reaction to getting all scratched up by the gorse yesterday as up most of the night with cold sweats and the last time this happened was when I got badly nettled....
