Now taking some more days of alternative training whilst my heels recover sme more. they are feeling quite okay after racing (and forgetting to take off high heels before dancing) so am optimistic it wont be too long. leg stuff this morning.

Orienteering - hard race 40:00 [4]

WOC relay, a third leg run. really nervous before this, and looking forwards to getting out into the forest and racing. adrenaline is good, i was moving well without much effort to start with, but my head wasn't moving at the same speed. I got everywhere quicker than expected, climbed extra and felt uncomfortable as it was my first time racing in this terrain after being injured during the week and last training camp. there were lots of stupid time losses. of course, as ever, all could have been avoided with better prep and planning. got a bit frustrated after the first controls didnt go well, and then tired in the end with a sore stomach, not the legs to stay with Eva on the last section and one more mistake meant i was getting caught by the pack behind me. not the greatest run, such a long way to go with all the parts of my racing (physical, technical, dealing with pressure situations), good thing i like training and want to work hard ;-)

Small run with Sarah on tarmac paths. fel a bit heavy after resting but achilles getting better again, feeling it a little bit to begin with but eased off after some mins, which is new, and no need to slow down or change gait because of it.

fast orienteering round model relay area. good, about the same feeling as yesterday. able to run as fast as could read the map, sometimes just enjoying the running and not paying enough attention. enjoyed this :-)

More new shoes, these also a success :-)

achilles feeling awful when woke up. went for a run after day out sulking/watching Middle final to prove i couldnt run. awkwardly, it was quite okay. small paths and terrain on the ridge near accomm. sometimes getting to quite high effort too. this does not make for easy decision making re: relay but further test tomorrow then time to decide. still loving the Inov-8s, so light and fexlible :-)

4x10mins. achilles recovering well. Sarah said she had some achilles problems from wearing Icebugs because theyre so stiff on the underneath, they transfer force upwards. the last thing i did before starting to have problems was run Venla in icebugs then train in a new pair that werent even the right model for me (stupid!) so i think its a factor. mine are pretty knackered now anyway, and have now thrown them out.

found that the bikes here have either gear that is threshold intensity or quite easy. used bigger one this morning and easier one this evening. achilles feeling quite okay after being provided with mega anti inflammatory drugs, thanks Sarah!

WOC Sprint qualification. A bit jumpy before this, hard to have confidence after last two races i ran. Nice way to get back into it though, easy course with lots of time to look ahead all the way round. Confident and clean, less than 5s lost. Not feeling v quick with the running, but did the best i could with the fitness i have just now. Not pushing hard enough to feel sick or get too much lactic acid but aware that on this kind of race needs hard effort to make sure of getting through.

Really good prep for this race, felt like i kind of knew the area. No surprises anywhere.

Ran in new shoes after physio Dave said it was okay. They were brill :-)

WOC final. Kept my head mostly after 1 and reading wrong code at arena control, but ruined by pain in my left achilles after this morning. it was hurting so that i couldnt run v fast, so the whole thing was slow, painful and so not very fun. hard to have any fight :-( so i finished disappointed, like too many times recently. now have some days to rest and recover, have retreated to mountains in France, now waiting for mum and dad to arrive and buy me fika :-)
