Orienteering - Bush (Minor - Heart Rate Hills) 1:14:22 [3] 7.38 km (10:05 / km)
21c shoes: Salomons June 2014

Hard Long. 21 Controls. Nominal 6.0 km.

As a minor event could look at the maps in advance.

Looked at the normal Hard Medium and then the Hard Long.
Hard Long basically had all the controls of Hard Medium with lots extra for only about 1.5 km longer. Decided to do that rather than 2 runs.
So competing with the big boys .... and came the expected last on the leaderboard.

Made an total embaressing mess of number #1. Disgraceful.
6:17 versus others 1 to 2 minutes.
Simply had to go south up a track till hit the water course and then go up the water course. Got to water course / track junction and there was Control 150 out in the open and I was looking for 151 (further up the hill idiot).
Somehow lost all confidence and started running back and forth E-W realising all the time that this was the ONLY watercourse there.
Can't really explain it.
Was so embarressed contemplated running back to Start and clearing my SI stick!!!! Potential cheater.

No problems at all with the rest of the course and was really happy with my navigation. Controls seemed to be easily found and visible from a distance today.

Moderate Long. 10 Controls.
Second Course. Wasn't intending to go out a 2nd time but was asked if I wanted to partner up.

Shared map so most of the time I was just tagging along.
Walking and a bit of jogging.

Rest of afternoon working on laptop under back verandah whilst my dog randomly ran around the yard exploring.
Got very cold by 4 pm so came back inside.

Gardening - General 4:45:00 [1]

Not been sleeping most of the week so "rest day" at home today (meaning not out doing 15 - 20 km in the bush and lots of driving). Actually managed to sleep in until 8:30 am when two sms awoke me. Totally unheard of as normally up around 4 am - 6 am.
Perfect weather. My male dog out on the loose exploring whilst I worked.
Times approximate.

10:45 am - 12:00 pm
Whippersnipping boundary tracks.
Wont have to do again for at least 4 to 6 months.

12:45 pm - 3:00 pm
Working in 2 downhill, 1 uphill, and rear neighbours yard.
Restored the cleared area along the fence line with brush cutter.
About 300 m long (4 off x 75 m wide blocks) and 10 metres wide.
After all the work more than a year ago pulling out the paperbark and other major regrowth aong the fenceline keeping it clear now is a simple once or twice a year activity.

Would be simpler with ride-on mower but then I would have to get permission to put in gates. Neighbours don't care if I maintain it but I haven't gone that far in asking permission for gates.

3:15 pm - 4:30 pm
Fallen stick collection amongst all the brush cut grass so it won't be there next time I want to maintain it.

Managed to motivate myself to attend. And body can feel the affects of missing this class for weeks!

Need to get back to this class consistently after missing last week.
Struggled again and had to drop weights back about 5 kg across the range of exercises.

Shorter walk with group around Mayfield as I had a meeting at 1 pm.
