Walking around East Fork for the Long Champs. This is my first actual exercise for about a month. I would normally reduce my claimed time, but the climb made it feel like work. I'm still thinking if I'll log my real time for the Flying Pig work or not. I'd like to know how much time I spend.

Just a beautiful day. Forecast 50F (10C), but it seemed like 60F (16C) most of the time. I few showers moved through. The footing was soft almost everywhere.

I've got a bunch of nice long legs to use, but I'm having the most trouble with white and brown. If I can figure out how to do those two courses, everything else should be easy.

A lot of movies: I've been making myself not log movies unless I actually exercise, which is a rule I'm happy with. I've been busy with work since before Christmas, and as of a week ago, it's much more reasonable. So---This is 5 weeks or so of movies (minus a lot of crappy ones).

Cuckoo (Кукушка or Kukushka, 2002) (1) A real surprise. In Lap (Sami), Finnish (Suomi), and Russian. I really liked this. (And not because I spent a lot of time imagining what the terrain might look like on a O-Map. I've got to plan an orienteering trip to Scandinavia, though.)
Muriel's Wedding, (1994) (1) I saw this years ago and loved it. I found it in the $5 bin at Wal-mart and snatched it up. It's mostly a comedy, but it's got some very serious plot issues that draw you in.
The Motel, (2005) (1) I saw this in the DVD stacks at the library and grabbed it. A very pleasant surprise.
Another Thin Man, (1939) (1) NPR has gotten me hooked again! I need to see all of the Thin Man movies. Nominally detective stories, but more fun than noir.
Absence of Malice, (1981) (0) I know this movie won awards, but I just didn't get it. It must have been topical when it came out, but it just seemed like it should have been a movie of the week or something.
Silkwood, (1983) (1) I had never seen this; it was basically another find in the library stacks. A little aged, but still worth seeing. Not to be too political, but this movie is as poignant as ever with the current debates on CO2 and nuclear power, as well as conflicts between unions and corporations.
A Scanner Darkly, (2006) (0) I really wanted to like this. I'm a fan of the author (although I've never read this). The movie uses live actors and makes their performances into a cartoon-like drawing thing. It's neat, but it gets in the way of seeing their expressions. It really takes you out of the movie. This reminds me that I need to watch my director's cut of Blade Runner sometime.
Better Off Dead, (1985) (1) I saw this movie in college, back in 1985 or so, and it's still cool.
Moonstruck, (1987) (1) It's funny how you remember things incorrectly. I had forgotten a lot about this movie. It still holds up, although the after-makeover big hair is a little bit frightening. (shudder)
Simpson's Movie (1) I have to say I was a little disappointed, but not enough to give it a (0). If you're a Simpson's fan, you just have to see this.

Yeah, it's a lot of movies, but I basically don't watch regular TV when I get busy. This is sort of my minimum dose for sanity.

I've been in a theater once since New Year's:

Cloverfield (0). Crap.
