Biking from Loveland to Newtown on the rail trail bike path. Went 22+ km on the way to Newtown, then bonked. Got over halfway back, but then my rear tire flatted on a sharp stone (crushed gravel), and wasn't able to change it with the tools I was able to borrow. (My tools were in my car. (shakes head.))
I stopped at a convenience store on the bike path. They had no tubes, no patch kits, nothing bike related *at all*. Weird. But, there *were* 5 or 7 cars parked nearby that were obviously bike path users. I asked a guy putting his bike in his car if he could give me a ride to Loveland, and he said yes. I offered to pay, but he said, "No, can't take it. It's a karma thing."
I stopped 9km short of Loveland, having walked 1.6km in 17minutes.
I figure my 15 year old tires ought to be replaced just on general principles, but the tires I have on are discontinued. Found a replacement that will work, but won't look as cool. Oh well.
It was an awesome day to be outside. So nice.
Saw "Premium Rush" (1) about a bike messenger delivery job (a premium rush) in NYC that goes bad. One of the better bike messenger movies (75% at rottentomatoes), but there is still some room for improvement here---a really awesome bike messenger movie is still out there for someone to make. The biggest complaint I have is a scene where a car is able to keep up with the bike messenger for many many blocks **on a Friday afternoon at 545pm**. I will only believe that is possible if a real New Yorker says so. My limited Manhattan rush hour experience says NFW.
