Swimming 30:00 [3] 0.25 km (2:00:00 / km)

A little bit of improvement---had a few lengths with only 15 or 20 seconds recovery. Still feel awkward swimming and breathing, but better.

{Possible TMI warning}

I'm getting ready for a colonoscopy. My first. And the instructions have thrown me for a loop. I actually had to google "low fiber diet" to figure out what exactly that meant. It's actually kinda scary---things that are good for you tend to have fiber. I had to go buy a bunch of low fiber stuff (including a loaf of actual white Wonder Bread---it's like crack) and then items for a transition to a clear liquid diet for 12 hours. After the 12 hours, the instuctions say to take 8 oz of the purge solution every ten minutes, then to remain close to a toilet for 3 to 5 hours because it comes on really fast, and if you're not close, you might not make it.

{end TMI warning}

Several movies in the last week:

Anonymous (1): About how Shakespeare's works might not have been written by Shakespeare. I know there is historical skepticism about Shakespeare from the early 1900s, but I really want to know if this movie plot is historically feasible. Because if it is, well...Damn. I suspect it is a good story with good deal of literary license.

Hunger Games (1): I'm giving it the one, but I really don't get it yet.

Swimming 44:00 [3] 0.4 km (1:50:00 / km)

First pool workout in a long time. Did 16 lengths of a 25m pool with *lots* of recovery. Had a breakthrough on technique, though. On the fifth lap I did a slow, steady, smooth motion that had me going quickly through the water. It took off about 5 seconds per length, and my motion down the pool was very smooth. I started to lose the technique around length 12. I did a few more and called it a night. Much less pumped than normal afterwards.

Watched "The Departed" (1). Not much to say---sort of like a spy novel. Two cops, 1 undercover and 1 a mole, try to find the other first. Lots of spy-novel-like twists and turns. Based on a Hong Kong movie from 2002.

Watched "The Darkest Hour" (1). An alien invasion movie set in Moscow. The aliens are very unusual: They're some sort of weird electrical energy, and basically the only reason I'm giving this the (1) is because I thought it was clever and cool. The concept is very very geeky, although the movie really doesn't explore the weirdness as much as it could.
