Running race 32:16 [5] 3.1 mi (10:25 / mi) +10m 10:18 / mi
slept:6.0 weight:209lbs shoes: NewBalance 426

Race that's Good for Life 5k in Oak Park. 40" slower than last year, and DFL in my age group. But I felt good at the end. And all my running buddies beat me this year...not even close to any. Altho one old guy I passed came by after the race and impressed Charlie by thanking me for "speeding up" in the last half mile to egg him on to break 33 minutes. Charlie took 7th with a time of 20:48. Then he went down to Country Lane and ran a 7.4km Red course while I went home on the el to show apts and do my taxes.

Found a big error in my Sch B & D roll-up which means the whole thing has to be redone tomorrow. And all for naught: STCG, LTCG and dividends are all taxed at 15% this year. So why do they make you split them out and go through so many machinations....just to give the tax preparers something to charge their customers for?

City running 54:00 [3] 4.5 mi (12:00 / mi)
slept:7.0 weight:209lbs shoes: NewBalance 715

First run in tee shirt: sunny, breezy, puffy clouds. Run at noon down to Schubert Theater to get tix to "Jersey Boys" for Roy's visit in two weeks. Then to IRS to get last-minute tax forms.

Got up at 4:45 this morning to finish Form 6251 - Alternative Minimum Tax, and determine the bottom line on my 1040...thankfully my significant long-term capital gains (market looked toppy last fall; I panicked and sold...thankfully) resulted in far less tax and AMT than I'd feared. So no 4-page Form 2210 (Underpayment of Estimated Tax) to plague me this year. Hurrah!

Around the buildings: spring is here; lawns are greening up. Time to do some last minute pruning, mulching, seeding.

Loosening up after yesterday's ultra-long. First road race of the Chicago Area circuit next Sunday. Should be ok, but not remarkable.
