Track 12:00 [4] 1.5 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 - Xtalon 212

My first track workout in several months had to be very brief. Spent 12 minutes overall, some on slow warm up, some on slow cool down, some on as hard a mile as I could muster. I guess the 12 minutes was good for making this week's activity profile look like a chi-square distribution on 1 degree of freedom.

Orienteering race 21:57 [4] *** 2.7 km (8:08 / km)
spiked:10/10c shoes: Inov8 - Xtalon 212

Course 2: A very fun and thoughtful course at MUM set by Joe Burkhead. Riding home in the car and debriefing about route choice to the first control: one of us went right, one of us went left, and one of us went straight -- pretty good evidence that there were a lot of good options throughout the course. I felt pretty good about most of my choices until I looked at the splits. I probably lost time on route choice to #3 (I went East of the tennis courts and up the big hill) and #10 (I went North, around the top of the building), but probably gained a bit of time to #7 (I went along the open area south of the parkinglot and cut-in at its SE corner). Of course the heat and my lack of sustainable speed caused me to hemmorage time as the course progressed, too.

Field checking 1:30:00 [3] 5.0 mi (18:00 / mi)
shoes: Patagonia trail runners

Checked a few controls and jogged a few legs of Thursday's sprint course. Looks like good times! I am still pretty dead-legged from the rogaine and couldn't muster more than a slow jog.

Orienteering race 8:00:00 [5] *** 17.0 mi (28:14 / mi)
spiked:17/21c shoes: Inov8 - Mudrock

Ran these controls, in order: 50, 30, 60, 70, 51, 42, 72, 32, 53, 41, 54, 31, 52, 43, 63, 73, 61, 44, 74, 64, 40. Made an attempt at #80, but its 'feature' was described as "heavy vegetation" on a map that didn't map vegetation. I also made a good attempt at #62 and am sure that I got very close. But time was running out and I was quite weary, so I called off the search. Didn't have time to pick up #71 or #81 at the end; otherwise, the race went mostly according to plan. It was a well-set course and fun time.
