Orienteer race (Shawnee Mission) 1:01:00 [3] 5.7 km (10:42 / km) +190m 9:10 / km
shoes: Icebug Spirit-L olx

I was able to execute my plan of being a little smarter and running harder, and felt pretty good about Sunday's race. I did have a few execution errors but they were minor and with my head in the right place, I knew where I was and corrected fairly easily. I wanted to look more like Kissy did when she came in on Saturday... sweaty, rosy cheeks, exhausted. Peggy's encouragement, and the fact that Eileen beat me on Saturday while claiming to be totally out of shape also got me motivated.
No excuses on this terrain. I did spend more time at each control planning a route but then kept moving. In other words, I treated this like a RACE.
I couldn't catch Julia who was 9 minutes ahead of me and I knew it was unlikely she'd make that big of a mistake. Still very happy to have had a good run.... it seems like it has been a while. AND.... I checked every single control for the right number. No mp.

Robin and Ty had a good time to, so it looks like we probably willing be Pigging it.

Orienteer race 1:06:00 [3] 5.4 mi (12:13 / mi)
shoes: Asics Speedstar 6

You know that feeling you have that you're screwing up and everyone is watching? I had that between two and three when I mistook the finish circle for control number three and searched all over the finish area. I had people asking afterwards what the hell was going on and even had people say
"I heard about that". so yeah I was pretty bad.
I ended up making a few other big mistakes- less public and ended up nine minutes behind Julia and in fourth place.
That's a lot of time to make up on a two day event but in theory, this should be my type of terrain. I think I need to run faster and smarter.

Run (Afton village) 15:00 [3] 1.5 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 268

Jogged the bloodhound back to his home in Afton marina. He is old and doesn't like cars. What a sniffy dog.

Orienteer (Shawnee mission model) 35:00 [3] 2.4 km (14:35 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 268

Such a crowd! Ran it backwards which gave me the fun of running into steady stream of O friends.

Happy ski day at Lake Elmo w Sly, great snow and felt relaxed.

Run (Lake elmo) 15:00 [3] 1.5 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 268

Another loose brain moment. I was cleaning my car for KC trip and realized I left my skis at Lake Elmo. Drive back, gates locked. Slipped between surveillance cams and took a really nice jog to the ski shelter. Skis and poles were right where I left them.
