Orienteer race (Chester Woods Red) 1:10:45 [3] 7.0 km (10:06 / km)
shoes: Icebug Acceleritas-L

Second time racing at Chester Woods; I opted to run red instead of the Minnegoat due to multiple time constraints bearing down on me this weekend....
Course was 7k with 10 controls, all of them fairly easy. I think probably the most effort was given to setting the Goat (fair enough) with the assumption that most of last years' Red runners would be running that (true).
As a result, many of the controls were repeats of last year's controls and that was a bit of a disappointment... and a good bit of the run was on trails. On the bright side of that, I knew some things to avoid and also knew what the vegetation would be like and I knew I had to just keep pumping so I didn't really allow myself to rest and planned prior to reaching controls.

I've been encouraging Robin to FINALLY write in her log (Aunt Doggie), but since she may not comply, I'll point out for her that this was her first Advanced course (Brown), and that her older-but-not-oldest sister absolutely SLAMMED her on the only common control, where it can be seen that Linear Ice ran in under 4 minutes, and Aunt Doggie took almost 30 minutes. Split 3-4

Run (River road) 29:27 [3] 3.1 mi (9:30 / mi)

Orienteer (Night O) 55:00 [3] 5.0 km (11:00 / km)
shoes: Asics2

No idea really on distance or time; mass start so just followed to 1. Luckily I didn't follow Andre though. He went to 11.
Ran near Molly C, Jim for a bit but things broke up after 3 i think so got some alone time.
Took the "through" route between 8 and 9? And lost some time in what turned out to be buckthorn rather than white, then when I reached the trail, was confused that contours didn't match trail where I thought I should be. (I was looking at the parallel trail. Oops). Lost another 3 minutes there. After that... good again.

Run (Lake Elmo trails) 59:00 [3] 9.8 km (6:01 / km)
shoes: Asics2

Ran with Chris and Robin, although I lagged behind them by a bit. Just drained and a bit dizzy.

Run (Battle Creek) 30:00 [3] 2.5 mi (12:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics2

went to a Battle Creek meetup, waited 5 minutes and wondered... where ARE THEY? and then looked at my phone and I went to the wrong start point.
I raced to the Hwy 61 entrance, but the others were gone.
I ran a little by myself but ended up on a short loop and then didn't want to go out again. Not too much motivation lately... maybe due to my diet which has drained energy as well as a few pounds.

Orienteer (ASP training) 1:00:00 [3] 4.0 km (15:00 / km)

w Robin, finding some more advanced locations. Slow going to try to teach/learn map and terrain reading (very good thing for me to do) and walking through tall grasses and green white areas.
