Originally was going to get a late start for the IVs but then due to unforeseen circumstances I requested an open start and niallmac sorted myself and zacosh out.

Orienteering ◪ race 1:00:41 [5] 12.53 km (4:51 / km) +119m 4:37 / km

Intervarsity Orienteering Championships 2016
The Curragh

Fast course, if anything maybe 2km or so too short based on eoinmc's winning time, and good use of the are. Executed the first section cleanly but then got confused running to 4 where i realised the green was layered over the contours so I couldnt figure out the 10-15m stop butt infront of me and what it was. Flustered and messed the route to 5. Clean to 6-15. Then another wobble near 16 but was close enough to not lose much time. Road route to 18, best option? Then 20-21 I ran down a track under the line to 25 and got a bit confused, clean back to the butterfly control and the roundabout route to 25, missed the track under the line this time......the one I had already run on. No miss through the last 3 easy controls.

After punching the finish control as I caught my breath I thought yep, thats all I had in me today. Couldn't have given more. Currently Im on the build from the injury still and I am getting strong but my 4th gear, 5th gear and turbo are very rusty. But that will come. Main thing is another good race, maybe 2 bad routes and 30sec-ish or so mistake too I think but was mostly in control. Only good enough for 4th in my last Orienteering varsity but on the plus side the Military College with Coach Corporal Hill took top honours stuffing UCDO!

No running today, working from 10-7. On my feet the whole time and did some security on the door since Im so tough and intimidating.....I guess if anyone ran with something I was the most likely of our crew to catch them

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Bit under the weather so taking the day off.

In other news, MSc in the bag. The orienteering research seems to have gone down well. Trying to cut it to a 5/6 page paper to be submitted to the Scientific Journal of Orienteering.
