Walking (trails) 1:24:45 [3] 5.15 mi (16:27 / mi) +616ft 14:47 / mi

Over to Kennedy Park to do a recovery walk. I felt better than I thought I would, so I tried to keep up a decent pace--the cool sunny weather helped with that. And there we no bugs either, so very pleasant.

Orienteering 5:24:29 [4] 12.5 mi (25:58 / mi) +1125ft 23:55 / mi

Just got back from a four-hour ride from the rogaine, so I don't have all the details to post, but the 6-hour rogaine was way too challenging for me, both physically and for my meager O-skill set.

The map was very accurate, the courses were well designed, and all the controls in the right location, so any misgivings about the race were purely from my poor performance. Although I did end up as second supervet, probably out of three runners. LOL

Glen Tryon was third veteran and had 1800 plus points to my 1200 plus points.

My big mistake was opting to stay in the cabins the night before the race--it was wicked cold, the wind was howling and shaking the metal roof on the cabin, all leading to practically no sleep at all. I should know better--I'm getting too old for that. :-)

Walking 32:00 [3] 2.0 mi (16:00 / mi)

After dinner walk down East Street and back. Was thinking of running, but when I lay down on the bed, I ended up taking a half-hour nap. Guess I need a break.

Dirt Road Running 1:02:24 [3] 6.0 mi (10:24 / mi) +254ft 10:00 / mi

Another warm, humid day, calling for another easy run--out and back on dirt roads near Woods Pond.

Trail Running 50:37 [3] 4.2 mi (12:03 / mi) +477ft 10:53 / mi

A rather unexpectedly warm day, so I thought I better get out and start getting used to running in the heat, especially since I have a six-hour rogaine on Sunday. Hey, better late than never.

Just an easy effort, well as easy as it can be on tired, sore legs, in Kennedy Park. While there was some lightning and rumbling, I managed to stay dry until the last mile of the run, when the light rain began.

Later I learned that there had been a tornado warning in Berkshire County, but mainly for the southern end--so no harm where I was.
