Orienteering race 1:51:31 10.44 km (10:41 / km) +121m10:06 / km
Well... it started off good. I was moving well and I was laying down a clean run when a few hundred metres from 13 I felt a sharp prick in the bottom of my right foot.
I just thought there was something in my shoe, so I just shook it off and kept running, but It was hurting a lot more than just something in a shoe. I stopped, looked at the bottom of my shoe, didn't notice anything unusual, so I untied it, but when I tried to slide my foot out it hurt quite a bit. I realized my foot was attached to the shoe!
I thought the middle of the forest wasn't the best spot to treat my foot so I tied it up and walked the rest of the course (plus the 1.5km from the finish to the parking). It didn't hurt much walking, except when I stepped on It hard, or awkwardly.
when I got to back to the car my dad pulled the bugger out of me, and I examined the shoe, and found that a thorn from a thorn tree did indeed go right through the bottom of the shoe, through the sole, and into my foot.
I was in second on course 7 by about 20 seconds at control 12...
Turkey Trot race at St. Michael CHS/Kemptville forest station. fun course, and great weather. finished 30th, and All Saints was the top Senior boys team!
OOC running training. ran down to the triangle field and did 3, 2-control loops, then one 3 control loop, with a 250m loop of the triangle at speed between each. then we went to Frank Ryan and did two 1km perimeter loops of the park, the first being nonstop, and the second was split into 3 segments, having to be 10 seconds faster than the first loop.
