Went out too hard. First k was like 4:18 and I couldn't hold onto that pace. Made it to about 10 and then I suffered for the rest of it. Orienteering was good again. Attacking the controls well and got them cleanly. I was doing ok really until I hit that slight bit of a hill up to 11. My HR got to high and I wasn't able to lift it again.

Running (road) warm up/down 19:04 intensity: (11 @0) + (18:23 @1) + (30 @2) 2.76 km (6:54 / km) +21m 6:39 / km

Rock Climbing 1:00:00 [1]

Back to gravity. Had a fun time. Warmed up into it and spent quite a bit of time on the comp wall with some volumetric problems. Got a nice one there and finished off with a pink.

Went for a spin with Brian and his friend Mark from work. We basically headed towards maynooth again, to stay out of traffic but today kept going on as far as Kilcock. Mark was only with us as far as Blanch. The weather was cracking and a very enjoyable cycle.

IMRA Glasnamullen

I took it easy last year so I thought it'd be nice and easy to beat my previous time. I went out hard enough and tried to hang on but I seemed to be quite far down. I was alright up the road and kept my momentum well, feeling strong. Out in the open the short descent was nice though I got a bit stuck on the single track behind some guy who didn't want to get wet feet. Crossed the river where he eventually succumbed to the inevitable, and passed him out. Started on the climb to the Wicklow way strongly but my collapse was not long in coming. At some point my legs just gave up and there was no more running in them. Walked a good bit then with a few bits of running until the WW. Felt surprisingly good once it was flat and picked it up. I decided I would keep the running motion up to the summit even if it was slower than walking. I succeeded until about halfway between the two fences. Walked to the second fence and ran the rest.

Had a little suffer along the top and then got into the flow of the descent. Passed out lots of people, maybe 20 in total? I'm not sure. It was really fun and the legs felt good. The little bits of uphill nearly killed me. I pushed up white hill really well but along by the forest I had a bad time. No one passed me but I lost ground on people in front. The rocky part by the forest was where I got the most positions. The last climb then was excruciating. Again somehow managed to keep my place and actually got away from those behind me. Gained one more place by getting a sweet jump over the fence and just hung on down the road. There was a big group in front of me but I couldn't get to them.

Happy with my recovery ability, still not too happy with the steep hill ability though it was a bit better. Running hard in Donadea yesterday doesn't help and I need to remember that as it is easy to get negative and thus more tired.
