biking (commute) 40:00 [3]

Back on the bike, too nice to be driving. Bailed from work early as the magnetometer wasn't fixed yet, decided to detour via the lower tracks of Ainslie on the way home. Then remembered I had my laptop in my bag, so couldn't do much off the fire trails!
5 PM

Running 36:00 [3] 7.0 km (5:09 / km)

Time to do some (light) training again. Easy run from home to base of ainslie and around a bit. Was nice being home in time to go for a run in the light :)

Orienteering race 1:32:00 [3]

ahahaha. oops.

A master class in how not to orienteer. I may go into details later, but really just was not planning things well enough for how hard the terrain was, and started doubting myself to boot. Think I had 4 or 5 decent controls out of 19! I was happy with how I relocated at 7...there's a positive!

Grace did 77, we reckon 70 was 'easily' achievable, and 65 would be a clean run.

Awesome area, very well set courses to exploit the hard areas and I just didn't have my orienteering head screwed on today. Don't think I've ever had such a mess of a run yet enjoyed a course so much before. The sun and warmth did it no harm either :)

Hello motivation to get back into training.

Orienteering race 33:43 [4]
shoes: VJ Bold 2011

Middle on Kahli's Rocks.

Speedy first few controls on the rockless side of the hill, then thrown into the detail. Seemed to manage my speed well enough and had a pretty clean run, some small misses in the detail, and on bearings, but corrected quickly enough. Thought I was going to lose it navigationally at the end as I was busting for the toilet so my mind wasn't fully on the course haha.

On comparing splits my running speed is a bit behind Grace at the mo, but to be expected really. Wonder how much i can get back in 3 weeks?

Good fun course

Running warm up/down 30:00 [3]

got to the start early so nice long warm up as I didn't want to stand around in the wind (nothing on wellington champs by the sound of it!!)
warmdown straight to the toilets, then to get my top from the start :)

Running 52:00 [3]

For Michael:

The usual from the lab. Straight vertically up to the loop track. Then 3/4 of a circumnavigation of the summit before heading up and over the top of Black Mountain. Down and around the fire trails on the lower slopes before heading over to Little Black Mountain. Up the single track to the summit, and over the far side. Then back to the lab on the fire trails.

A little breezy, but still plenty warm enough. Even saw another runner on the single tracks on Little Black Mountain. That doesn't happen very often!

Running 1:01:30 [3]

My first tues/thurs without soccer training...was at a bit of a loss of what to do?! (not really)

beaut day for a run from the lab. Over little blackie, down and around to what i'm tempted to call midget blackie from now on, then up to circumcision and finished over the top of blackie and back down to the lab for a couple more hours work.
