Phil's Green course from Sunday. I had an advantage in that I had a target time (59+), and I had memorized Phil's splits at #'s 3, 7, and 10 so I would have a sense of how things were going.

Had my share of problems. Missed #1, ran too far up the road and came in from behind. Missed #2, went to the wrong cliff, the one to the south. Looked at my watch at 3, a little over a minute behind.

#3 was OK, but on the way to 4 I got a stick in my left eye. Couldn't tell if my contact was still in or not. Blinked several times and then it exited the eye but hung up on my lashes. Took several attempts but got it back in, you really just have to jam it back in. Two minutes elapsed, but at least I had distance vision again.

4-5-6 OK then quick down to 7, hmm, not as far back as I feared, maybe 1:15.

8-9-10 were OK though felt slow, but it's Mt. Tom, what do you expect. And the time at 10 was good, a minute up. Rest should have been easy except I botched 12, cut through the green but turned left instead of right.

Nice course, didn't seem overly hilly. A little cooler than Sunday. Only noticed the bugs when I stopped for my contact, no big deal. And my time was better than expected, given not my preferred three days of rest. :-)

Note

My trusty 305 seems to have suffered a terminal injury at Boston, so a replacement was ordered, a 220 this time, finally opened the box after it had been here a week or two. Seems to work fine, and nothing new needed to be done to make the uploading to AP as simple as it was for the 305.

Have no idea how accurate it is, but that's not really the point. It's just entertainment.

So now maybe I should go try Phil's Green course from Sunday? Maybe he will leave a map on his porch? :-)

Nice start to a new effort to do a little training. Couldn't have been nicer -- well-rested legs, nice cool later afternoon, no bugs, just loping along, no falls. So maybe the secret is taking at least three days of rest and making sure it is cool?

Might mean not much running this summer. But since I will do some O' at some point (at the Scottish 6-Day at least), it might be a good idea to train a little. Otherwise it will be the marathon all over again, run a little then walk a lot, and I don't think I'm up for 6 days of that.

At Cemetery Hill, warm-up on the first loop of the XC course.

Another go at the disc golf O' course. A little warmer than I would prefer, but a good effort and I knew where I was going. Though for a moment I would get under 13, but the 18th hole was longer than I remembered.

A nice way to get in a tempo workout, time goes by very quickly.

Not sure what the "official" rules are, but I touched everyone of "holes." Quite a few players out, but no one yelled at me... :-)
