Oceania Day 2 - Osgiliath Wood
11:03 AM. Waitarere Forest, New Zealand. Burned 810 calories.
Course: M21E 10.1 km 90 m
From one epic to another. The forest on this was quite nice and soft to run thorugh, but I didn't get to enjoy it much, since my legs were really buggered from day 1. I managed to completely stuff #9 and really only found it by a combination of luck and the fact that Morten was searching for it too (i grabbed it before he did!). He let me follow him into 10 but he then quickly disappeared. The most talked about bit of this map was that in the Microcarpa and out in the dunes proper. Both horrible areas, and the dunes were very hard to understand with a very minimalist mapping style. To throw us into this for half our course was just mean, especially because it was the end of the course!

Oceania Day 1 - Fusilier
11:11 AM. Manawatu, New Zealand. Burned 1045 calories.
Course: M21E 11.5 km 140 m
Orienteering baptism by fire. This was my first navigation for some time and it showed. Also, wasn't really up for the actual distance of this i think. I got around in the end though. Lots of problems keeping a bearing in the forest with me drifting a long way right on the majority of the controls i made errors. Felt like a lot of running without much thinking on much of the course. The forest was nice and soft.
