Tim Watkins Blodslitet, C Course (Mens' Vet)
A strange start, because there was a start flag that was nowhere near the start triangle, which threw a lot of runners. Anyway, worked it out, but ended up punching #1 at least a minute behind Charlie. Managed to find #4 while looking for #3! Then got going reasonably well, and pulled through to get into a bunch that was almost the lead, apart from Charlie. Eventually we caught him up, looking for a control in a depression amongst very vague vegetation and rock (#8).
After about an hour it was starting to hurt, and runners started catching me up. From there the "blood letting" started! Got to about 80 minutes and started struggling with the navigation, being too vague. Lost a couple of minutes at #22 and several more at #23, another one in a vague area of little contour detail. Charlie caught me up here (which was strange because I thought he was ahead) and we ran fairly close together for the next few. Then the course went uphill for another time to #27, and I could barely walk, let alone run. Charlie disappeared into the distance, and Michael caught me. Ran with him through the last few, and then just about summoned up some energy for a sprint finish.

Northern Night Champs, Great Tower. Blue.
Just over 3 minutes lost at #5, and then another 1 minute lost at #8 (which was the same control, the centre of the butterfly). Apart from that, not bad. Beaten by Helen Winskill, but then so was everyone on Blue!
