Edinburgh City Race. M40+, DSQ.

A good course with a nice mix of long and short legs, and good use made of some of the trickier parts of the city. With a late start I'd seen that good times were around 36 minutes, and I was going well with only minor hesitations having lost me a few seconds here and there (plus an unmapped passageway that cost me some time, but probably cost others time as well). At about 30 minutes into the race, coming through the Meadows, I checked my watch and realised 35 minutes might be possible, so I pushed hard on the easy controls. Then I caught someone else who was obviously on my course in the intricate section of controls 23/24/25, and pushed even harder to get past them. In doing so, I completely missed the fact that I hadn't punched #25, despite running within 2m of it. Idiot.

Disqualified as a result of pushing too hard, just like at Dunblane last season. A pity, because I'd have won M40+ by over a minute.
