Orienteering race 53:23 [3] **** 5.25 km (10:10 / km) +140m 8:58 / km

Just plain old tired mentally and physically today (too much going on at work) but decided on an outing with Ros (she did White today). Just set off without really getting my head into things- consequently first 2 controls dropped 4 minutes.The rest of the course (which was very nice ? Ross setter) went well with some minor bobbles and one doozy of a 90 degree exit error- could have been bad but constrained to 1 min loss. Suspect this is last O outing for the year as I need a mental break. NB distance advertised as 4.9 without adjustment for uncrossable pond :-)

New calf compression sleeves arrived- nice piece of gear (2XU). Ordered them online, made by Aussie company endorsed by Australian Institute of Sport (must be OK then!) and shipped from Newton MA!

Very sad day today- attended the funeral for the 9 year old daughter of one of my Research heads - she died of liver failure due to a rare genetic condition. D gave a heartfelt eulogy celebrating the life of an only child dear to their hearts -sometimes life sucks. No more can be said really.
