walking 40:00 [3] 2.5 km (16:00 / km)

Went early to help with set up as I was on Rego Desk today. Event area is quite close to suburbia and it was a beautiful day. Rego virtually set up when I arrived at 8:45 so just helped with final touches. We have a great supportive club.
Rego started fairly early and soon things were really buzzing. At one stage we had a line up of 15 people - and that was with 3 of us on production line. Then at 10 my first expected new family(3 generations) arrived so I opted out for about 15 mins. did the usual with them then waled to Start and then more chatting and more then off on course. I like to go to the first 2 controls to make sure they are OK. (reported back later - had a great time - email later - very happy)
Back to Desk and the queue was even longer by now, especially caused by one person who was undecided on which course to enter but was reluctant/unwilling to take advice.
Then a familiar face popped up at the head of the queue - Girl Guide leader + family so did a quick refresher with them and put them on their way.
It was now 10: 30 and I was instructed to organise myself and go out on my course. As I was on my way to the Start I sussed out another new family had appeared (3 kids and 2 parents) so dashed back to Desk and changed my Start time. Did the usual intro with them then to Start and C1 and C2. It was now 11:15 and I had severe doubts I'd finish a Medium Hard in the time before course closure so decided to drop back to Hard Short. But didn't have clues for that course so back to Rego. On way back to start 3 people running along the track to the Rego... "are we too late??". This is a new family I,am trying to cultivate so of course it wasn't so hurried them through Rego by helping out with filing in Results slips and organising descriptions. Up to Start with them, saw them off then Started myself.... on my 3rd choice course (Moderate Long) due to lack of time.
Everybody seemed happy, courses were challenging and heaps of people. Our southern cousins (Sydneysiders) visited in droves - great to see them but tight on maps.
11 AM

Event (NOY 2 - Blue Gum Hills) 1:22:56 [3] 4.5 km (18:26 / km)

Was hoping this would be recompense for missing out on my Hard Medium - and it was. If I could compare it with making a meal - 3 course full presentation meal would have been Hard Medium but this was supposed to be scrambled eggs on toast Moderate Long. But I managed to boost it up to quite challenging.
S-1 - bearing but was wayward apparently - Got to fence but bend wasn't in sight; opted to go N but the control was South. Bearing sloppy, apparently.
1-2 Bearing to track, bearing to w/c this time too far W. GAH - it's Goldilocks again.
2-3 Track, track, bearing - spike. That's better.
3-4 bearing - good
4-5 big horror story. Bearing to track, look for track junction nearby - missed it, though admittedly it was a VERY minor track. Saw some streamers and thought they might help (pink) but led straight to lantana and no sign of the crossing. Back to track and go junction (S), continue and cross w/c but track too major for that sort of map representation then the compass decided to tell me the same, ie going wrong way. Considered DNF at this stage. Back to main track and along to N, noting the orange tapes but lead nowhere - possibly faded pink too.Get to another track junction and decide I know where I am, too far N. Back again S in first direction and note minor track and then see w/c and some slightly trodden grass with red and white stripe tape leading to the designated w/c crossing ie saving us from lantana death. Across, find pit easily. GAH lost 21 mins.
5-6 bearing to w/c - spike. Feeling it is more like a Moderate course now.
6-7bearing to major track - spike
7-8 tentatively around "clearing" - shoulder high grass and treacherous hidden dips with water.
8-9 through gap in lantana then slightly N to w/c then up - that was the plan which I executed very well, except I got to the next w/c and did all of that. No control so went S and found the correct one.
9-10 bearing, picked up head of w/c and followed it down - pleased with this leg.
10-11 getting a bit worried about time and hoped I didn't stuff up any more. But 10-F was directly back so was going to pick up controls anyway rather than DNFing.
10-11 out to track and joined major track cutting around the long row of big concrete blocks - as a kid they would have been fun to walk along the top of!!!. In off track to depression - estimated along the straight track very well.
11-12 bearing and pleased to see that boulder cluster.
12-F Just get in.
Honestly it was a very testing course and well/interestingly set. BUT it also was quite challenging Moderate standard course and there were unsurprisingly a couple of common legs with Hard Short. That terrain is easier than Brokenback Slopes from last time - but still I'll sleep well tonight.
Pairs event next. On Admin again.

gym class (Body Sculpt) 1:00:00 [5]
shoes: bright pink

Excellent, excellent class.
Warm up - which got a bit frantic, even though it was simple.
Cardio section - jump squats, burpees, push ups 20-15-10-5 run - grass. Grass run not the best - too close to brekkie.
Upper body -biceps, triceps, 20-15-10-5- grass run - much better
Back - flys, dead lifts 20-15-10-5 - grass run - better still
Repeat of first cardio session - but no run.
Inside sprints - stars etc.
Abs
Stretch/cool down.
Noticed some glute twinges - probably the result of yesterday's Pump class being the first in almost a month.

gym class (Body Pump) 1:05:00 [4]

This was pleasantly tough, not having been for about a month for various reasons. Really enjoyed the challenge. I think I might feel a couple of twinges tomorrow.

gym class (Cross Trainer) 1:00:00 [5]

First opportunity for a Wednesday class since end of Park Tour. Great follow up on Monday's exertion. Run x 2 to Trotting track was a success - first in a very long while. Other than that mostly upper body and straight cardio.

gym replacement activity 1:30:00 [3]

After shampooing the carpet I just kept going right out the door and picked up mower and edger. Seamless really.

Now that's more like it! Totally stuffed! But run wasn't too bad, especially for the first of the day.
