Running 25:00 [2]

run home from work with pack - knees really sore - might not do the trail run tomorrow and spend some time on a bike instead.

Running warm up/down 8:00 [1]

with Bash before the O-Long.
12 PM

Orienteering race 1:42:08 [2] 4.1 km (24:55 / km)

Canadian O Champs - Long Course - since they were being held in Ottawa, I had to try and make an appearance to at least one event to support the local club. The way Bash described it, the sprint would've been really fun to do as well. Anyhow, my goals were simply to complete it and have some fun - oh and as per Bash's suggestion, I was also going to hammer as hard as possible from the last control through the finishing chute given that it was pure running. The orienteering actually went pretty good, it was a fairly technical course, and it was all about holding your bearing. Bash started a few minutes before me, but I saw her on her way to getting the 2nd control after I had gotten it, but I knew I wouldn't stay ahead of her for long. Turns out we both struggled with control #12 and I saw her out of the corner of my eye. My brain wasn't functioning well for # 12 nor #13 or #14 and then it was an all out sprint to #15 and the finish. so I wanted to see how fast I could go compared to other orienteers..managed to go faster than a bunch of male elites on the finishing control ---yes! That Hurt. It was super fun and would have loved to do more events - perhaps in the future....

Trail Run warm up/down 20:00 [1]

with CarlieG before the race - found some trail we'd never ran before, plus I did a few drills.
10 AM

Trail Run race 1:15:00 [5] 12.0 km (6:15 / km) +616m 4:58 / km

well couldn't turn down the Fortune race - acutally felt pretty good other than the climbs on the second loop - and then re-formed blisters from last weeked...will need to tape my feet for next week's rogaine. My kness felt better than anticipated too although I think I'll have some swelling tonight. Should've done the short course as I felt good for the first lap but what the hell throw it all out there. managed to hang onto first place until 2km left. Carlie G did the sport race and had a spectacular fall at the finish, worthy of a trip to an urgent care clinic...the excitement never stops around here! She's going to be just fine.
