MNOC Adventure run

A great night to run on the new map of Como Park. Perfect weather, 24 teams over 2 courses. Some newbies, some not so newbies....

Just a couple minor bobbles, but otherwise clean. Had trouble locating some controls that were within arms distance, and map reading at speed in the dark is not the easiest for me...

Great time afterward at Gabes with 12-14 of us talking maps. :-)

Didn't get the GPS started until after the 2nd control. :-/

Course dubbed "No mans land" Some control locations that noone in their right mind would visit voluntarily... others with some questionable routes. However, the controls were all placed well on the red course.

I had a bobble on the way to 4, where I went too far east instead of right up the big reentrant between the hills. #8, I tried to take the sliver of white, and then avoid going through the reentrant.... which doesn't work. The reentrant is the only way to stay in the white. I felt like I had a pack of cats on me the thorns were so brutal. Stuck to trails for the rest of that section.

Setter ran us through an unmapped section of the park. Not the best terrain, so I'm not sure it is worth mapping, but I navigated it OK. Came out at my ideal spot.

Perfect weather. Some new folks, and some new regulars!!!! Fall in Minnesota.

Night lite 5K at Battle Creek.

Friends talked me in to doing a fun 5K with them. I took it easy and just enjoyed the night as I didn't want to hammer my legs before the O-meet. I saw a lot of people I knew, including Chris Swanson, Heather Keihn, and Darryn Kozak. There was a 10k, half, and 3x5k relay option also. Well supported with two water stops a band and beer.

Fun run. It still is amazing to me how people will pay $40 for this, and not even consider a $5 entry for our adventure runs....
