Note
(rest day)

Would have been able for the bike but remembered that shower is out of action for a couple of more days so would have been unable to clean myself afterwards!

Not as tired after the drive home.

Slí an Earagail from Bun Beg which I made into a loop

Nasty morning starting out, wind and rain, particularly tough in the golf course section, headwind. Dried up after that which was a bonus. Heavy rain on the drive back to the house so kind of got away with it.

Legs feeling ok, some Achilles soreness before it warmed up but grand then. Surface at the start was mainly grass tracks, not much sand.

Then last few kilometres were on the road. Some hills too so made life a bit more interesting. Just about kept my balance too when a car passed me on the road east of the main one, bit of a drop into the ditch if I’d fallen! Would have been my own fault though.

Note
(rest day)

Tired again this evening, 50/50 split between head from driving and legs from yesterday. Did a spin over to Letterkenny then up around the Fanad peninsula, Ros Guill, and Horn Head.

Decided where i'll run tomorrow too so just need to get up in the morning and do it.

Mount Errigal

Early start as wasn’t sure how long it would take. Tough uphill across wet/boggy ground. And then path turned to head across towards the scree. This path didn’t last too long as I crossed the snow line. More or less followed the path upwards and at this stage visibility reduced a lot. Could see very little.

Got more snowy across the most gentle part of the climb. Then the last bit to the top. I knew there are 2 summits but wasn’t sure which summit was higher, the 1st or the 2nd. Wikipedia told me the 1st summit was higher. Happy to read that as I didn’t fancy the look of the ridge between the summits in the snow on my own.

Headed back down taking it handy. Wasn’t in a rush and didn’t want to destroy my legs. Feeling fine afterwards so mission accomplished.

Errigal was my 1st mountain, this time was 3rd ascent, 2nd was late 90s with first time being in 1986 when I was 5. Didn’t have my dad with me this time to give me a mars bar.

Up the steps from Silver Strand. Gave Mary a head start and chased her down.
Been a while since my last visit here. Stunning spot.

Slí Lub Loch na Caillí

Website said 5k, Garmin says 10k. Oh well. Not complaining about the distance but was a bit confused up the mountain with distance and knowing I’d a bit to get back.

Once Achilles had warmed up things weren’t feeling too bad. Good to get onto some nice tracks.

Did get 2 dogs chasing me before crossing the main road.

Feeling much better after some sleep.

Note
(rest day)

Feeling pretty wrecked this evening, head sore. Blaming 6 hours in the car today for it!

Will run before breakfast tomorrow, looped trail near enough the house, and weather for Thursday looking alright so will try for Errigal that morning.
