Note

Body can feel that it did something yesterday. I think that the left calf came through mostly unscathed but hard to know exactly as left ankle is definitely sore. It's not swollen I think but sore.

Monday - Turbo Trainer
Tuesday - Physio (may cancel, not sure)
Wednesday - Turbo Trainer
Thursday - Circuits
Friday - Running
Saturday - Rest (meeting friends from college)
Sunday - Cycling

Rough plan for the week, likely to change.
6 PM

Turbo Trainer 27:02 [2]

Avg Cadence = 90rpm

Nearly ended up doing nothing but got on the bike for a short spin indoors. House a bit out of kilter as painters in doing a few bits so things out of place.

Legs tired after yesterday. Quads noticeable too, tired muscles. Hard to tell how the Achilles is with sore ankle. Reckon at this stage I will take up my physio appointment tomorrow.

Ross Island

Didn't know how to treat this run but with a few competitors on the course it was worth trying at least a small bit. Kept the pace mostly similar I felt, but definitely was struggling near the end. Made a mess of leaving 25, wrong direction, took a fall and then trying to get back up my left quad was cramping.

Not a great route to 27 either and Conrad caught back up and was not able to close the gap to him on the road, he is able to run though, but felt sluggish.

Earlier in the run took a few falls and a few bumps from various branches, so was a physical day in the forest. Definitely made a mess of 6, overshot, and had trouble finding 5 too. 8 I wasn't too confident when I came down, didn't realise i'd come down the big re-entrant as thought I left the path later than that.

Turning off the track to go to 15 I went over on my ankle, slowed me down a small bit at times due to a few winces taking some bumps.

My split between the last control and the finish is also a bit long. Punched the finish, went to download, some sort of error, so told to punch the finish again, and this time it downloaded. Some hardware issue I think.

Think I survived more or less, we'll see tomorrow.

Killarney-Listry-Killorglin-Beaufort-Killarney

A few extra out on the spin this morning, MTB lads out on the road for a change of scenery. 6 adults out and 6 lads. Interesting mix. They were told what happens on the road before we started and not to be messing. To be fair to them they were very well behaved throughout.

Think spin was slightly slower as a result. I was definitely feeling comfortable throughout.

Got a light shower nearing home, but other than that a nice day out, a bit nippier than last weekend.

Left hamstring almost cramped getting out of the car later on, didn't hydrate enough afterwards I think.

Game of Thrones S07 E02

Eventually got home and onto the bike. Didn't find it too bad once I got going. Think I found it easier than the last few times although did have to coax myself to keep going at least once.

Circuits 45:44 [3]
shoes: Adidas Supernova Black (2015)

3 circuits, 45 seconds on.

Certainly more of an aerobic feel this evening, lungs felt a bit pushed after 3 or 4 stations in a row of high intensity. Good fun though.

Calf still getting better after Tuesday but was ok to exercise on.

Note
(rest day)

Took the day off training. Calf sore but could definitely walk as opposed to last night where it was not easy to get between the couch and the kettle.

Physio 1:00:00 [0]

There has been some improvement.

I said that I’d go for some dry needling if that’s what the physio thought would help. She said it would so prepared for the worst.

It wasn’t a nice feeling when the needling was going on but I think I was prepared for it to be more painful than it was. I certainly didn’t look at what was going on.

But my god the pain afterwards was a whole different ball game. Managed to get out to the car and drive home but walking when I got home was awful. Really painful!!!

Was warned to expect this and some pain tomorrow too but should improve after that.

More physio booked for next week, will see how I get on this weekend to see if I need it.
