Orienteering race 48:58 [3] 3.3 km (14:50 / km)

should have done so much better. everything was going great until i reached #4. but i came onto it a bit high so it was only like a 30sec mistake, nothing too drastic, easily fixed. then going to #9 i was like "i can finish this in the next 10min (by 40min)". had no drama's with 9, got it spot on in fact. somehow #10 evaded me. i went in knowing exactly where i was. thought i was a bit high so i went down, looked up to some boulders so i knew exactly where i was, didn't trust and kept running :/ finally went 'screw this' and ran back to where i knew i was so i could try it again. ran back in the the exact spot i was before and was like ok, it should be to your left. i looked over and couldnt see it, so i ran closer to where i thought it was. still couldnt see it. so i stopped and looked at the map again. yes i was exactly where i wanted to be, looked up and saw old mate punching my control and running away :| so frustrating!!
i managed to get 18sec for the finish chute though, a time that Kas said that i had to do (: the speed-freak got 15sec!!
Nicola the gun!!! i'm so proud! you're amazing! JWOC material for sure!

Sprint Orienteering race 23:17 [4] 2.9 km (8:02 / km)

had a nice clean run. the only downside was that i went to #'s 17, 18, 19 ans 20 before realising that i'd missed 16. So i did 16 then redid 17-20. so i lost about 2 and a half minuted there. other than that i had a great run! would have been so much higher up in the results but ohh well. as Steveo said, now i'll know what NOT to do next time :p

Orienteering race 50:05 [4] 4.2 km (11:55 / km) +155m 10:04 / km

had an excellent run today. i made it slowly to #1 to build up my confidence as well as the control being extremely vague in all of that green. i also managed to catch Rebecca Freese on this control who started 2min ahead of me. on my way to #2 the green and bush kinda pushed me to the wrong side of the spur. i realised before Rebecca did and so i made it to 2 before her and that kept me ahead of her for the rest of the course. on my way to #4 Lillian Burrill caught me and overtook me. i made sure she was always in my sights and i wouldnt let Rebecca get ahead of me, so they spurred me on.
From there on, i had no troubles with any of my coutrols as i decided from#1 that i was going to trust myself. yesterday i hadnt and so ran past it but each time i was right i had just doubted myself. so today i decided to completely trust myself and this paid off. but it all comes from experience and confidence i guess.. having Roch tell me that i did well and that i'm fit also boosted my confidence..
