Orienteering race 2:23:53 [4] 14.1 km (10:12 / km) +405m 8:55 / km

Jukola leg 3 which is the long night leg but as we were not going so quickly I only realy needed the light in the trees for the first half hour and ended up taking it off and just using my BdSpot as a headband in retrospect I should of dumped it at the start and run all the way like this as the ligh became a pain by the end.

I had seen a good bit of the course on the big screen via the gps tracking as the leaders went through. Steady on the runout and then like many people messed up number 1. never knew well ware I was from the start in retrospect I should of used the OOB Taping to get myself to the right area in practice I was south thinking I was north and lost 10 mins. Lost a min on 7 which was 2 bolders and I saw an alternative 2 bolders 100m away that are just not on the map which I don't realy understand as they were both abiout 1.5m big which is normaly big enough. Blew a good 5 mins on the long leg 10. I had seen this on the tracking and the northern route looked best and had more path running which as the terain was killing me I thought was good made it even more path running by heading out of 9 at about 120 degrees to the target to get only a path withing 150m. I then ballsed things up by trying to cut a corner off the big track on smaller paths though fight and marsh and loosing the path and coming back out on the big path 200m from where I had left it but about 5 mins latter... OK after that. Lost 2 mins on 16 ended up on track to relocate. Pleased with the 2nd long leg probobly made up the 50 places I had lost on the previous one. Lost a min on 25 getting tired and stupidly ignored contours and went in early on wrong side of slope.

Just too far out there for me really was knackered by the end mistakes add up to about 19 mis so my 120 target would of been tough even if I had run cleanly. At least made up places out in 1042 back in 971. 927 of 1578 on leg but 61 mins off the leaders and they were in the dark unlike me.
