Note

Went to the boat in S. Berwick with Beth & W. That was enough. Visited with Paul and Joyce. Up & down the solidly placed step ladder but care & effort req'd. Beth is not one to make sentimental comments but noted how many memories reside there - coming on 40yrs this fall for memories.

Drove back via Dover & Durham/Rte 4. As fine a May day as could be, T lo 70s. Much greener at/near the coast. We took a few side roads, admiring NE countryside & homesteads. Nap pretty much first thing when we got home.

Slough & back with W. Warm for a change. Drove around the block with top down, May 1st, convertible season. There may have been black flies - too few to tell though.

End of April and her showers. Wandered out of Concord center coffee in hand, found ourselves eventually on Broad Cove and W. Parish Roads and then a convenient trail head I was on years ago. Level, free fm rocks, roots, very nice. One view of Broad Cove. Had I had sat view, I would have seen the powerline option. Did not look much like the photo.

Drove on Ferrin, the two roads above, finally Briar Hill and Hopkinton Center. Usual assortment of fine views/images. Have not yet taken any “Dogs of March” photos of which we see maybe one/day. The imagery can be riveting - but some embarrassment pointing a camera at it.

Walk with W on Nottingcook loop. Gray, some east wind, rain coming again. Peepers were loud near the kettle hole.
7 PM

Note

Drive to Boscowen to Black Forest Nursery and local look-see. Lots of interesting old homes on Rte 4.

To other side which ended at Contoocook River, with bridge remains.

Note

Drive to Hopkinton to scope out last portion of Old 202/Duston CC environs, latter hardly a cc but most interesting. It rained moderately all day & was cold to boot so we didn't get out of the car. Across 202, we found some unfamiliar roads - one was Thain that went completely unrecognized until one unique house - then it pretty much all fit in place. Last there 4/8/2015 but where we encountered the loop and one relatively new home led to impressive but temporary confusion.

Nottingcook with Willow before the rain. Gray, mild. Snow forecast tonight. Right off, met a mom with youngster in backpack, another maybe 4 and an enthusiastic dog, the two of them raised concern for being bowled over - as they did to the older child.
6 PM

Note

PM drive into Hooksett. Granite Hill homes was most interesting. Podunk and Currier Roads were highlights. Podunk dead ended on the south side of Bear Brook SP. I couldn't picture it all on the small cell phone screen (& no sat view) and there was no sign indicating a dead end. But there it was, one last, well-tended home on the edge of the woods and the road continuing enticingly for a walker/jogger. The gate on the other side is right in front of Bear Hill Pond camp. I've never explored the stretch in between. Currier - a long dirt road, a few old farmhouses, tree-lined lanes and old walls as well as the more mundane home. There were two utterly unkempt houses opposite each other, a contest for the most slovenly yard? or, more likely, related individuals. Only thing missing was a Trump-Pence sign.
