Road running 1:15:38 intensity: (1:00:00 @2) + (15:38 @3) 7.17 mi (10:33 / mi) +204m 9:42 / mi
shoes: Nike Lunarglide 3

Hopkinton loop, splendid early April day. Didn't see a car for 2.8 mi & only one in 3.8mi. 5mi dirt road on this loop. Tired - seems like a long way to go for any running facility. Feel like I'm running out of a hole - the whole of winter.
Slight bit of knot in left calf near end - chose to ignore...perform-or-else attitude.

Road running 44:34 intensity: (24:34 @2) + (20:00 @3) 4.39 mi (10:09 / mi) +152m 9:10 / mi
shoes: Nike Lunarglide 3

Patch-Rollins circuit around 3p - chilly at start but sunny. Not a single car on Patch or Rollins. Back to Hopkinton a few hours later for a CYC dinner.

Road/trail 45:00 intensity: (15:00 @1) + (20:00 @2) + (10:00 @3) 3.0 mi (15:00 / mi)
shoes: Nike Lunarglide 3

SPS XC, chilly & windy. XC had a lot of ice & snow patches & muck elsewhere. Ran some 8' pace track laps. Baseball game for entertainment...a lot of youthful competence on display.

Note

Interesting point: Tony Mangan, 55, 'running round the world' since fall, 2010
and Jean Socrates, 69, sailing solo & nonstop round the world (day 164) are about on the same line of longitude - Tony NNW (& heading NNW) of Adelaide & Jean some hundreds of miles south, heading east. Real troopers in their own right.

Trail/woods running 28:00 [2] 2.0 mi (14:00 / mi)
shoes: Nike Lunarglide 3

Winant Hill early am - never would have guessed. Needed to visit 280 Pleasant for blood work & as compensation, woods were waiting at edge of parking. Cold am - socks not good enough for hands. Worked our way round Winant Hill, then to top with sun & paths. Nice to see rims of hills thru trees before leaves. Could see far to the west.
3 PM

Road/trail 1:17:02 intensity: (20:00 @1) + (57:02 @2) 5.0 mi (15:24 / mi) +164m 13:59 / mi
shoes: Nike Lunarglide 3

Not sure where I wanted to go - even considered driving toward town. But in the end, out the door, up Allen to Great Hill area & back. Windy & cold, even heading toward the sun. Found myself on Glacial Boulder Tr & then mostly SM trails which were too snowy/icy so a bunch of dodging which got mentally tiring but no falls. Took a few photos but it hardly looked like spring.

Had a map of Elk Neck SP from 3/28/98 along - dare say a better place to be today. Also a Hogenback Mt map with a green course but no date or other info.

Walking 25:00 [1] 0.8 mi (31:16 / mi)

Slough & back DP, raw spring am with RWBs & sun peeking thru. April shower last night, welcoming the new, saying goodbye to the old.

PL cut, looks much better, nothing above waist-high again. Looking at map of Shepherd Lake NA'00 most of time.
6 PM

Trail/road 31:46 [2] 2.22 mi (14:18 / mi) +67m 13:05 / mi
shoes: Nike Lunarglide 3

Late day visit to Nottingcook. Hadn't planned on it but need daily application, even if little - aimed for 2 mi. Lots of snow/ice on road which was flooded requiring a detour. Noted a green plastic container by a disappearing path - looked like it contained a sandwich but there were 2 pens, some wet, blank paper & a paper that congratulated me for finding a geocache site. Found the missing bottom & closed it up with the big rubber band. Wonder what got in it seeing as it had not attractive scent. Did the Bower loop - only place w/o snow as it's mostly hardwood. Found a wooly bear crossing the dirt back by the car. NW front came thru making for interesting sky.

Biking 1:25:00 [2] 10.4 mi (8:10 / mi)

Easter Sunday Purgatory loop with Beth, social ride, look around, notice this & that. Overcast, mild.

Kimball pond runoff

Today's Boston O run would have been nice & most interesting coming out of winter but possible injury exacerbation & inadequate running preparation made participation seem unwise.
