Orienteering 1:13:45 [3] 6.51 km (11:20 / km) +262m 9:26 / km

Deep Hollow, 5.9k green Y from April, 2011. I was hot & thirsty, it was dry, my feet hurt & it was a challenge! Easy-to-read map, lots of open terrain, great visibility. Thought I'd be around 65' but climbing hills (to 3, 4 to 5, 7 to 8, 10 to 11) took it out of me - was way behind myself of 2 years ago. Think I missed #1, will have to see 305 track. Came across a flag at site of 10, possibly there 2 years? Call this a B performance, also had trouble with the next to last cp, drifting down to the right & being unsure when I saw the marsh & also confused from supposed proper point into finish which only proved itself correct at the last moment - more green than mapped, I'd say, hiding things til the water on left.

Map & Route

Had some trouble finding the forest off Rte 6. Was dropped off at Bull Pond entrance & picked up there as well. Beth went off to Seven Lakes Dr with the dogs for the time I was in the forest.

So three runs, second two were hard work as it was also warm (71F today), and such rocky terrain, demonstrating the need to beef up O shoe soles. Gaiters would have been nice (but hot) as it was knee-high scratchy on some hillsides & tops.

Rain last night but snug as a bug. However, neither of us slept for unclear reasons - yet not in need of a nap today. Back 9W Newburgh, 84, 91, 9/202, 750 mi. Such a drive used to seem easier - some tedium now tho Beth & I carried on a good conversation. NH is a long haul. Nice to see spots of snow (as in cool/soothing). Did see a few rare patches along Rte 9W in the WP area but very rare.

Road/trail 26:48 [0] 1.28 mi (20:56 / mi) +80m 17:32 / mi

To start & back to Bull Pond entrance (added 0.5 mi. & 80m climb as well as guessed additional time). Did not use 305 to start & only turned on on road when I was curious as to how far back it might be.
