Ontario O-Fest Sprint on Parc Mousette map in Gatineau, QC. Course 5 (M55, M18, F21,35,45) 2.6k, 15m. 1:4000, 2m contours. A combination of park, residential and (small) campus with most of the running on pavement or mowed grass. A few simple "traps" but mostly straightforward navigation. No significant errors, maybe some slightly sub-optimal route choices. Overcast and in the 50s F. 3rd in M55, 8th overall.

Ontario O-Fest Long course on Gatineau Park - Wakefield and Vorlage maps. Course 7 7.1k, 350m. Chase start based on results from Middle distance, so Bruce Glen started 4 seconds behind me. Started on the Gatineau Park map and had about 1km of simple navigation to transport under the highway and onto the Vorlage map. Overcast and low 50s.

Another so-so run. Off to the left heading to the first control (letting my 4-second chaser get far enough ahead that I never saw him until the finish). Struggled with map and terrain matching for much of the first map but managed to get through it with only about 4-5 minutes of time loss. Bad route choice and then loss of contact on the way to 13 cost me probably 5 minutes (had I taken the better route it would've been through terrain I was familiar with from the previous day - d'oh!) 5th for the course in M55 and I think 4th for the combined time.

Ontario O-Fest Course 7 (in M55 class - M45, F21, F35 and M18 were also on this course). A middle distance course - 4.0k, 150m on the Vorlage map (at Ski Vorlage near Wakefield, QC). A very good (and fun) course in challenging technical and physical terrain. Lots of rock features and hills but good visibility and runnability (when not too rocky). Some trails and of course ski trails. Map printed at 1:10000 - I used my magnifier more than usual (the course 6 map printed at 1:7500 made me jealous).

A so-so run with most of my errors due to not reading map detail and/or drifting off-line. Biggest time loss was on #7 when I mis-read the ski trails and took a bit to figure out where I was, even though I knew right where I was when I first got to the trails. Probably had about 8 or 9 minutes total time lost. Ended up 4th in M55 and 16th overall on the course. Course was probably about 1k longer than it should have been to hit the 30 - 35 minute winning time target.
