At Jacobsburg SP from the parking area on State Park Road (creative naming!). Stayed on the east side of the park. Lots of the trails are gravel roads or mowed paths through fields. Cooler than it’s been (70s) but still very humid. Some occasional walking, even where it wasn’t very steep.

At Trexler Preserve, parking near the (southern) covered bridge. Still stupid hot and humid, so another sweatfest. Walked lots of the uphills, trying to keep the heart rate reasonable. A few wet areas on the trails including one spot over the ankles. Jordan Creek was high, such that crossing it like we did in the race a couple weeks ago would not have been safe. About 80 and overcast.

At “Top Rocks Park” which is just a parking area/trailhead in State Game Land 157 near Nockamixon SP. Maps show a trail heading up and over Haycock Mtn from the parking area so I thought I’d check it out. The trail is well defined at the start (with lots of rocks and roots) but about a half mile in it enters a big boulder field and pretty much disperses into lots of micro-routes through boulders and cliffs. I continued for a bit, but the rocks were wet and somewhat slippery so I decided to turn around. It turns out that I wasn’t too far from the top of the hill, but I would’ve needed to get up some cliffs. And coming down was much trickier than climbing. Will have to give this another try sometime when it’s drier (or with studded shoes). I may approach from the other side since it looks to be less steep.

Trail Run 20:51 intensity: (16 @1) + (12 @2) + (11:07 @3) + (9:16 @4) 2.0 mi (10:25 / mi) +18m 10:08 / mi

Still wanted to get some mileage in since the climb up Haycock Mtn didn’t work out quite as planned, so followed a gravel road which heads out of the parking area. Somewhat of a slog since it was about 80F, grossly humid and a good portion of the trail was in the sun. The road dead ends with no obvious trails off into the woods, so just headed back.
