spiked:19/20c shoes: VJ Falcons 4 (yellow)

EMPO Club Champs at Woods Hollow, Red Course. A new map (a work in progress?). Small area with a sustantial trail network. Contours from USGS so lots of significant detail missing. Woods were generally open so the navigation wasn't difficult. With lots of controls the course was middle-distance like. Missed one trail junction on leg 8 and had to correct. Off line on a few controls, but in an area that may be distorted a bit on the map. Won M45 class. Straight line distance 5.7 k.

Trail Run 48:02 intensity: (2:08 @1) + (7:30 @2) + (27:08 @3) + (11:16 @4) 4.99 mi (9:38 / mi) +102m 9:03 / mi

At Hand Hollow from the upper parking lot. A short bit off-trail to go around the crew (of 2) clearing a large pine tree which had been dropped by Superstorm Sandy. Any other storm debris had already been cleared from the trails. A few muddy spots in the usual places. Overcast, upper 40's and a few sprinkles. It appears that beavers have just about completely repaired the (man-made) earthen dam which had failed a few months ago (on the pond near the Co. Rt. 9 parking area). Free labor!
