Finally got out on the mountain bike. Codgers has reopened! Yay :) I always say this, but if I want to suck less at mountain biking, I really should do more of it. Still, I enjoyed myself, even if there are some parts I struggle with. Only one way to get better...

Spin class. Enjoyed it and worked hard. Maybe I am actually stronger in one way than I used to be, because I enjoyed the sprints out of the saddle and went really hard on those ;)

Lower body strength. Squats, lunges, deadlifts, glutes and so on.

From home to the gym, gym to Richmond, then Richmond to home. Really beautiful day but actually freezing in the morning, needed to have worn something over my ears and another layer or two...

Spin class. First one at this gym - not too bad. Worked hard but definitely not as strong on the bike as I used to be. To be expected.

Stretching and rolling session. For calves mainly. Noticed significant improvement.

May have to bring back the iPod under swimming cap. Don't think I have the mental strength for this anymore.

Longer road run, nice evening. It's time to start getting those kilometres up a bit as I am running the Abel Tasman race in 7 weeks! eek! Feeling a bit slow right now.

Also slightly concerning is the fact that yesterday my left lower soleus became a bit swollen and sore. Didn't notice it too much on my morning run but then afterwards it was definitely sore. I think this may be something that happened in the mountains in Switzerland, maybe a mild calf strain that just hasn't fully recovered? Will see how it goes... Was a bit sore on the run tonight again, maybe slightly better than yesterday though.
