Adventure Race race (KillaMetro) 35:00 [5] 5.5 km (6:22 / km)
shoes: Epic V10

KillaMetro race. Nearly started with my extra shirt on, got it off and then my bladder and pfd on again and by then people were running to the oval looking for two pegs of different colour. Calf popped almost immediately, not the best start. Back to rehab for me.

Paddle leg started fine, caught up with Ricky and Tim at cp1, saw a queue and went on to x6. Ran down Ricky on the way back after cp1, Tim caught up too and started sitting on my heels, in not too subtle a way by constantly bumping my boat. Got to cp2 and thought about skipping it but saw a bunch clear out and only two there - thought they'd move on but Ann couldn't reach the punch. Finally got it punched, backed out, turned and then saw Tim coming out fast, called out and then tried to paddle out of the way asap but he went square into the tail and cut a nice hole on the side. Thought about continuing at first but turned out coming back was the right decision as the boat was filling up and sitting lower and lower. Made it back but there was a lot of water coming out of the boat, amazing how heavy it becomes with water in it.

A coffee and muffin, bit of volunteering and watching the rest of the race. Only mistake was not putting my punch card in for the draw at the end!

Road bike (Floreat Renegade) 1:35:00 [5] 47.0 km (29.7 kph)
shoes: Amiata Torino

Chris, Greg, Ian, Shane, Karl and I this morning. Karl had taken his vitamins and lead out at great speed, finishing us off at the Leighton sprint. Pretty much everyone had a go at the front. Thought it was a good hard ride. Did not feel good at the start - always interesting to see how the body reacts to the first hill at speed. This time I was working hard immediately. Later came to and managed to squash the Mosman Park hill, but average to slow up devil's elbow. The Sat morning hill rides are helping.

Running 45:00 [5] 6.0 km (7:30 / km)
(injured) shoes: X-Talons 212

Arrived a bit late, ran the warm up and took a turn which put me in a deep sand bridle trail. In world of pain already thanks to the heat. Session was 3 laps hard. First one went fine, started hard but ended feeling better 10:14. Overall made me think that it was not pleasant to run so hard. Second started slower with Wil and Saz. A pain in my upper R calf got worse and ended up a small tear/pull. At about 9:18 I stopped and walked back injured. Should have stopped earlier but sometimes a pain like that goes away. Perhaps a better warmup would have been better. Calf was tight this morning on the ride already. Hope it heals by Sunday.
