Mountain Bike race 1:49:19 [4] ** 25.11 km (13.8 kph) +311m

Medium MTBO at Pickering Brook.

A bit rusty and didn't trust being able to pick some tracks so I took some conservative route choices. Deep, loose gravel made life interesting at times, as did the well vegetated tracks in places.

No real issues apart from a bit of a brain fade picking the right track into 4 (took 3 goes to get it right) and checking the length of an unmapped track just before getting to 7.

Small stack just before 8 - handle bar to the mouth plus a twisted ankle, as well as some collateral damage to my $4 DIY map board.

Worth while shaking out the cob webs before KillaAvon.

Orienteering race 17:45 [5] ** 3.6 km (4:56 / km) +40m 4:40 / km
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline 9

Nav dash at Guildford

Went out as hard as I could to get away from the multiple sledges I was copping from tRicky, Juffy and Craig. Juffy was 1 min behind me at the start.

Saw Juffy heading to 3 on my way to 5 thinking "Is that still a minute?". No troubles at all through to 7 then I small error on the way to 8 when I was lucky to get stopped by the wedding party. As I turned around to change my route to avoid running smack bang through them I realised I had missed my turn and was able to correct. Clean through 9 and 10 (saw Juffy again, knew it was less than a minute this time).

Read 13 correctly only to not see the control. Slogged through the grass around to 15 thinking that it was VERY snaky country. Good through the rest and hard into the finish (down to 3:15min/km). Looked up to see the large Juffy frame coming down the hill to the finish - he'd done me by 30 seconds or so.

Fun course, lots of twists and turns. Thanks Shanel.

Running 30:37 [2] 5.58 km (5:29 / km)

Easy loop - given yesterday's session this was all that was advisable.

Giving Blood 7:19 [0]

Regular blood donation - figure this taxes the body enough to count as training!

Two more donations and I get a song and dance apparently.
