Giving Blood 7:19 [0]

Regular blood donation - figure this taxes the body enough to count as training!

Two more donations and I get a song and dance apparently.

Orienteering race 56:48 [5] ***** 6.0 km (9:28 / km) +255m 7:48 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330

Australian Middle Distance Champs - Marginata
M21E

A fairly clean run - no real wobbles at controls - just a bit tentative along the way. Happy with the route choices, except maybe the short leg to 12 where, as Tooms pointed out, left through the open stuff would've been much quicker.

Was a bit fortunate a couple of times to pick features from memory (of setting here a few years ago).

Fluffed the finish control having gone down to inspect it. I didn't take note of where along the tapes it was and got drawn a bit right by the end of the bunting, only to having Juffy taunting me from his vantage point.

Really enjoyed this course - I was in contact the whole way, no searching for controls. Beat one or two runners I didn't expect to, but fell to the might of Juffy by 31 seconds.

Still keen enough on Elites to aim at running the Middle and Sprint events at the Oceania Champs in M21E and run M35A for the longer days.

Orienteering race 21:26 [5] 4.0 km (5:22 / km)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline 9

Aust Sprint Champs - Mandurah
WRE event - M21E

Happy with this run, only a few seconds here and there and nothing of any consequence.

Caught sight of Adrian on the way to the first couple and overtook him at 13. Saw Sten catching up on few of the cross overs but held him off until 20 and then had him leading me into the short ones from 21 to 25.

Felt like I was running hard the whole way and don't think that I could have done much more - at best maybe 21 mins. Pleased to be relatively close to the leaders.

The only significant down side to the whole event was that Ceri was 1 second faster than me in the finish chute. Weird really, I usually find that I'm finished faster than her!

Great fun, thanks Simmo and Binnsie!
