Running warm up/down 20:00 [3]
shoes: Icebug Spirit OLX

Orienteering race 32:14 [5] 4.6 km (7:00 / km)
shoes: Icebug Spirit OLX

Today I didn't even get to one before blowing it. About 3:30 lost. Much better after that. Pushed on some other Edinburgh girls with me but was on my own from 6 really. Bad route at 9 and 10 but tried to not take any chances. Frustrated, came in 2nd though.

Note

Felt really frustrated and pretty down after the weekend. Have been training hard and even focusing on technical. I was well prepared and even felt pretty good before but it's just the same disappointing results..
However had a nice chat with Charlotte on the way back. Going to try some different things in my start routine in the next few weeks to get my head right in gear. Was good before city race and look what happened there.
As well as this I do two things wrong, sometimes I push too hard and don't read the detail and at other times I read my map too much and take nothing from it. I need to combine the good bits of these, when I look at the map take things from it, there's no need to look at the same bit 3 times when I already know where I going. Invest time so I can use my speed!! This is my aim for the weekend. Sunday is purely training, I am going to change but it is going to take a lot of focus.
We talked about thinking of each leg separately. If there was only one leg Charlotte said she knew she'd hit it, I said I think I probably wouldn't. There is another thing, confidence!!!! I feel though to get confidence I need to feel good, feel I am getting things right with the orienteering so I can take that to the start line.
Lastly in a conversation it was said orienteering is like driving a car around a race track you don't go pedal to the floor all the way. Invest time for later.....take the compass bearing!!!!
Going to get my confidence.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3]
shoes: Icebug Spirit OLX

Orienteering race 1:02:00 [5] 7.2 km (8:37 / km)

Mistake at 5, pushed hard to 6 and made another. Short start block all over and was no getting away. Didn't feel as good as I wanted to either. 8th, guess could have been worse. Lots to work on.

Running 39:50 [4]
shoes: Asics GT-2170

5mins to get going. Then half an hour fartleck out to Bruntsfield and loops on links and meadows trying to stay on the grass, mixed in drills and strides too. Keeping it easy this week but waking the legs up.
