Running 32:00 [3]
shoes: Off road new balance

Recovery with Jo, nice and easy pace. Breathing a not as easy as it should be.

Orienteering 1:10:00 [3] 6.3 km (11:07 / km)
shoes: Olway Tigers

Regrouped with Jo twice on this so I could have a wee rest. Really enjoyed it but started to tire a lot towards the end of each section making the navigation very hard, head sore all the way and spinning towards end of section. Really tired.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3]
shoes: Olway Tigers

Removed myself from a competative euoc team and ran last leg so no one was waiting on me for a n/c team. Head was really sore and felt awful.

Orienteering race 38:15 [4]
shoes: Olway Tigers

Horrendous change over, couldn't see a thing. The first hill killed me even more. Basically had to run two, jog one. Pleased with my accuracy. Head started spinning after 5 though and had to just walk to 6.
Hated the last bit as all it was was running which I normally love. Breathing far too heavily for the pace I was running and almost sick at end despite not going hard.
We actually did ok though.

Running warm up/down 25:00 [3]
shoes: Olway Tigers

Orienteering race 1:08:00 [5] 5.9 km (11:32 / km)
shoes: Olway Tigers

I have generally been getting better with each race but this was certainly a blip. In a race I needed everything to go right it went very wrong.
So dad had warned me the first control would seem further than it appeared due to different scale. That didn't stop me stopping too early despite the fact I hadn't seen the wall and looking around. Saw a boulder and after a brief period of deciding it wasn't mapped before realising it had a control on it, then relocated and went to the correct hill. Fantastic start 3:30 lost!
Went on, started my race again, good safe route to 2 and 3. Re caught Florence of the way to 4 who must have passed me at 1. Didn't feel good running but tried to focus on the map.
Set of to 5, Florence went in earlier than I wanted to but decided to go too as we'd push eachother on. Big mistake. We hit windblow. I decided to do my own thing, another mistake really as thought after clambering through a small patch I knew exactly where I was and ran up what I thought was a strip of white, which it wasn't and hit more windblow. Admitted defeat and realised the only way back was to retrace my steps. Found a lovely niceish runnable way towards the control which everyone else probably took. Saw the control from far away but didn't think it was mine so didn't go to it as it didn't look like a re-entrant. Should have used compass. And there goes any chance of doing well in this race a further 3mins lost.

Then it took me to be strong, put it behind me and minimise the damage bu making no more mistakes. Very safe to 6, confidence wasn't quite there. Good compass and attackpoint to 7. The came a leg I'd almost pre planned. Think the route was ok but felt horrendous, something no usual as normally I run strongly.
Careful to 9 as appeared difficult. Too low to 10.
Was so slow up the hill to 11, head wasn't really there, found myself in a huge marsh, knew where I was but didn't know what to do about it. My head started spinning. I jogged on found my ill, walked to the re-entrant. Head still spinning.
I do not give up!!!! Feeling got worse, I concentrated so hard, went to all my attackpoints as just wanted to finish as quickly as possible. I lost the feeling in my arms it then came back as tingling, hands went the same. I was pretty scared. I almost had to stop at times to read the map. It is very funny as my times were still good when I felt so bad because I was concentrating so hard. But after 14 my body just gave up, I was barely jogging, embarrassed getting passed by people, no push in my arms as no feeling in them, couldn't get enough air in.
I punched the finish and literally fainted onto someone who happened to be Jane Halliday who was so good to me and took me to first aid.
So upset and annoyed.

Running warm up/down 30:00 [3]
shoes: Olway Tigers

Orienteering race 38:57 [5] 4.4 km (8:51 / km)
shoes: Olway Tigers

JK middle.
Same old same old. Just not quite good enough, but this was better.
Everyone I have spoken to was too low on number 1, better compass might have helped. Then too high out of one again like most people but was ok as hit boulders, compass and in well. Good on 3, knew vegetation was iffy so focused on compass and contours. Forgot about compass on 4 so slightly off but features brought me in. 5,6,7,8,9 good enough but felt I was really having to make myself push harder. Had the head up which was good as saw things quickly. Pushed really hard to spectator but was suffering.
Calves cramped going over fence to 12, panicked but kept running, in the wrong direction as didn't want to stop as it was open and everyone would see, instead went the wrong way, wrong re-entrant, know idea where I was, bang 50secs binned! Ran of to 13 and lost a further 25secs.
Jo caught me and we pushed hard. I lost further time at 18 where I took a bad route over the last bit of the hill. Felt like I was absolutely dying over the last section from 14 to the finish, jelly on the run in, ankle gave way, knew it would be fine.

Orienteering 10:00 [3]
shoes: New Balance 1260

Jog around controls on training area.

Orienteering race 18:55 [5] 2.3 km (8:13 / km)
shoes: Off road new balance

JK Sprint.
First two good, missed the route on 3 on approaching the control but saw it as I left so had to do a double back loop of the houses.
Then went pretty well until 19. Was lying in 3rd but seconds down on second so was all to play for. Turned up too early, didn't relocate just ran about, lost 25secs!! Albeit, heald 3rd. Quick on the next two, recaught Lucy who had passed me then we stopped, I confused myself, ran about silly when the control was easy. 15secs lost atleast. Quick on last few but it was all over.
Disappointed, should have finished a lot higher up. Annoying mistakes. Apart from the one mistake early on got through the housing unscathed and messed up the easy bit.
However, didn't expect to do well in the sprint.
