rest day - sleepy and slow, even coffee, 4 double esspressos didnt help. may be weather was involved, but mostly yesterday's run. took 7th place - 5th place was very realistic, having in mind 2min stop in the middle of the distance...

Spooner lake north part. Way better in comparision with saturday. At least no obvious mistakes - had some hesitations about location on the couple of legs, but overally was clean enough race. Lost about 5min max, plus helped one young lost soul to figureout her location (around 2min stop)...

Tough race. Killing climb to #3, but Einar ran uphill. Impressive. #3-#4 decided to avoid conturing on rocky slopes and goind down reentrants, so cut uphill. Had hesitations about location in the midle of the leg before hitting trail. Also, mismached rock formation where #4 was. #12 was hard to find after fast downhill and following climb, ran it with Martin, who also had problems with #12 we where to low. #13 would be ok but mireaded streem bads and was looking for control 50meters north from right location - saw fence corner, but didnt see streem. Decided to run till trails intersection to be 100% sure about which fence I've hit. Found it with no problems after that. Finish was slow - wasnt able to move fast on the flat road Tapio passed me by 20 meters at least. After all not a bad race, lost about 10min.

South Lake Tahoe. Entry DL May 30

Orienteering race 1:04:20 [5] 4.5 km (14:18 / km) +160m 12:08 / km
shoes: Adidas Alborado II

Complete disaster - 3 controls with ~20 min in mistakes.

Missed #1 by a couple meters despite having precise attack point - just didnt see it in the tree shadow. Map around #4 didnt look exactly as it should be - saddle slightly shifted to SW direction by 15-20 m. Parallel mistake on #6 - looked as an easy leg, so ran without contact with the map - cost +5min - mismatched small spur with the right one, but stopped because didnt see boulders on the top. Ran down and climbed back to nail it with no problems at all. After that control had very hard time to get into competition mood once again and actually never got into it. On the way from #10 to #11 found old unmapped road and in the middle of the leg was unsure about location - to much efforts and to many reentrants passed. Got sence of place when was close to control.

Tilden park evening - very hot, some relief after 8pm. Was beter than yesterday, but still pace is slover than should be. Or maybe it temperature related. Gained tremendous amount during last couple days of "stomack celebration". 3 parties didnt comeout without results.
