11 AM

road (gag) run 4:45:00 [3]

Rochester Map Adventures - ran with Rick, beautiful day, rib didn't hurt, hamstring was a little sore, knee hurt during the last half hour...this was the best 4:45 I've spent in a long time.

Thursday May 29, 2014 #

4 PM

trail running 48:14 [3] 4.35 km (11:05 / km)

kayaking 1:06:56 [2] 2.01 km (33:22 / km)

kayaked to Hill Island, ran, then kayaked back, but I didn't turn on my garmin on the way over since it doesn't last very long.

Tuesday May 27, 2014 #

2 PM

trail running 1:06:43 [4] 8.04 km (8:18 / km)

Charleston Lake - was looking forward to doing the whole 10k loop but couldn't get across the bridge at the 3k mark. Probably a good thing since it started to pour as we were leaving...would have meant a half hour in the rain.

Sunday May 25, 2014 #

11 AM

trail running 45:00 [3]

Jones Creek - short run on the E side with part of snipe trail...ran with Niki. After that it was playground time with Miss Natalie.

Friday May 23, 2014 #

11 AM

kayaking 1:00:00 [2]

another calm day on the river...not too much action, just the way we like it...saw more fish, osprey is really busy as are the geese.

Thursday May 22, 2014 #

3 PM

trail running 1:08:45 [4] 8.12 km (8:28 / km)

Blue Mountain - 1st time this season, trail is in great shape with only a few really wet spots...felt strong running but my rib still hurts, just can't take that really deep breath.

Wednesday May 21, 2014 #

kayaking 1:45:00 [2]

Very calm today and not a lot of boat traffic so we headed over to the American side of the river. Summer is finally getting here, water is up to 50! Rib is getting better, still hurts to sneeze.

Tuesday May 20, 2014 #

2 PM

trail running 1:01:11 [4] 7.3 km (8:23 / km)

Jones Creek - Snipe Loop...felt really good running...the rib is healing!

Monday May 19, 2014 #

10 AM

kayaking 1:30:00 [2]

Tried paddling and it went ok although I went real slow, rib is still pretty achy. Saw LOTS of turtles!

Sunday May 18, 2014 #

3 PM

trail running 56:33 [3] 7.25 km (7:48 / km)

Grenadier Island - boring run but no sticks to trip on. The ribs are still sore but getting better, running was ok...guess I'll live.

Friday May 16, 2014 #

4 PM

walking 1:00:00 [2]
(injured)

Walked the island, rib is better but still painful if I do anything which involves my right side. Saw 2 owls and a scarlet tanger.

Thursday May 15, 2014 #

Note
(injured)

day off to give my rib a chance to recover...really hurts to put any strain on my right side...forget doing planks. One thing I didn't mention yesterday is that while I was laying on the ground, writhing in pain, I saw an eagle fly over...special but hardly worth the pain.

Wednesday May 14, 2014 #

4 PM

trail running 55:03 intensity: (1 @0) + (27:51 @1) + (17:47 @2) + (9:24 @3) 3.66 km (15:03 / km)
ahr:87 max:123

Hill Island - great run until 10 minutes in when I tripped and landed on a branch that stuck into my ribs...took a minute to recover then walked the rest of the time. Yikes...not a good way to start the running season.

Monday May 12, 2014 #

3 PM

gardening 2:00:00 [2]

planting some new bushes, that means lots of digging.

Sunday May 11, 2014 #

orienteering 1:37:00 [4] ** 7.0 km (13:51 / km)

Ottawa - Stoney Swamp map, Kanata...turned out to be an area that was best to use this time of year before the briars got a chance to grow up. The map was a little in need of vegetation updates. Beautiful day!

Saturday May 10, 2014 #

5 PM

walking 1:00:00 [2]

Club Island - checking out the local woods, seems like there's quite a bit of downed branches...it really was a tough winter.

Friday May 9, 2014 #

1 PM

gardening 2:00:00 [3]

major yard work getting rid of all of the downed limbs and clearing all of the winter debris.
4 PM

kayaking 1:00:00 [2]

Took a paddle around the island...only 2 other cottages are currently occupied although there are a few boats on the river. Still no leaves but the buds are showing.

Thursday May 8, 2014 #

4 PM

trail running 1:11:00 [3]

Jones Creek, wolf/hawk loop - 1st cottage run of the season. Amazingly open since trees are just starting to bud out...looked like a whole different trail. Not exactly in mid-season shape, time was 10 minutes longer than last summer.

Tuesday May 6, 2014 #

12 PM

orienteering 1:08:47 [4] 5.81 km (11:50 / km)

Oatka Creek - ran one of the courses for this weekend. Not very muddy and the vegetation is late in coming out...nice running. Can actually take out 6 minutes because I didn't see the streamer...that area definitely needs to be remapped...lots of big, deep stuff not on the map.
