orienteering race (sprint) 17:15 [4] ** 2.1 km (8:13 / km) +50m 7:20 / km
spiked:9/14c slept:0.0 shoes: Olway - studs

CNYO: North American Champs Sprint: RB Prelim. Very rusty on navigation and not in shape to run particularly fast. Lots of small mistakes and some bad route choices. Seemed ok at the time, but the results and splits show just how much time was lost. Finished way back.

No sleep the night before. Had to work late, then pack and get to Teds so we could leave for NY at 4am.

orienteering race (sprint) 25:54 [4] ** 3.5 km (7:24 / km) +55m 6:52 / km
spiked:24/27c shoes: Olway - studs

CNYO: North American Sprint Champs: RB-Final. Took a nap in the car between the two races. Much better than in the morning. Still slow but cut out most of the bobbles. Had 1 min error on 4 when I exited 3 in the wrong direction but mostly clean.

There was some warmup involved before each race but I did not record the time or keep track of where I went.

disc golf 13:00 [1] 0.89 km (14:39 / km)
shoes: Walmart - Carson

Disc golf with Ted on the Green Lakes course after the sprint finals. Short course but lots of trees in the way. Wet disc and strange baskets led to high scores. 4,4,3,4,3,4,3,3,4. Probably a par 3 or even par 2 for each hole. Ted beat me by 1 stroke. Course length 1940 ft. Played the last 4 holes again with Dave Levine and Mike Ball. Dave destroyed us.

Square dancing (mainstream) 30:00 [1]
shoes: Blair - Botany 500

At Boomerangs 7:30-9:30.

run (road) 24:41 [1] 3.0 mi (8:14 / mi)
shoes: Avia

Another day of plans to run that did not get executed. Thought I would run in morning but had a headache so thought I would run in afternoon but then too busy at work. Finally got out after getting home from dancing. 11pm. Do not have a regular route at the new house so made a new one. Scorpio, Capella, Shiplett, Old Keene Mill, Lee Chapel, Burke Lake, Shiplett, Capella, Scorpio. Will call this the Capella loop. Had measured part by car earlier and used that to estimate the whole course as 3 miles. Funny how my courses always seem to be exact miles. Will measure with the wheel eventually.
12/19/08 Measured with gmap-pedometer 3.0126 so will leave at 3 since gmap was going to the center of each intersection. 1 mile point is just after Shiplett and Keene Mill, 2 mile just after Lee Chapel and Burke Lake.

Note

Had plans to put in a somewhat longer run (>6 miles) today. Never happened, it is 10pm and I am still at work. Just spent a lot of time getting a hotel for NAs. All the convenient ones I could find were full so we will have a long drive from Syracuse each day.
