Running race (Silverstone Half Marathon) 1:56:40 [4] 13.24 mi (8:49 / mi) +67m 8:41 / mi

Ok, so this might have been a bit harder than I imagined. Right calf completely seized up after the race yesterday and despite my attempts at massage still felt awful today. Decided to start and see how it felt running. It felt pretty bad, but predictably after 3 miles the pain felt less and my brain told me to keep running. Legs pretty heavy after yesterday tho. Was then fine until 12 miles (and actually felt good 10-12) but the last mile went on forever and actually thought my calf might go. Now sitting at home icing.

Despite my doubts about the course, it was actually really good, nice to have loads of space.

Fun race, quite hilly. Put off at the first control by catching up my sister. Behind her for next couple, and quite impressed that she was actually concentrating on the map, beating me to the road crossing when I hadn't checked I could get through a park. Overtook her when she went the wrong side of a wall.

After that pretty ok. Think I did well on the long leg but wrong route in old people's home. Managed to hold off Andy Kelly til we went uphill...

Rest day. Spent all day wearing my sexy compression socks under my boots. Also ordered a foam roller.

Forgot my watch, wanted to do speed session so went home to get it. Car wouldn't start, Nick push started it and got there just in time. After all that it wasn't even a speed session but the tough men 10 (2 loops of heath version). I only did one loop of heath, after having quite fast run yesterday. Calves like lead, hopefully they'll be better after resting the next couple of days or I might have to sit out Sunday.

Managed to get up the whole of Highgate West Hill, so at least that's something.

Dan met me to run home from work. As he didn't have his he carried my kimmsac, so that didn't slow me down. Calves felt really stiff, despite the massage yesterday and took a while to get going . The route is quite good, with a long straight bit all the way through barnsbury, so managed a fair pace. Happy with the speed, and Dan def pushed me, so all good.

Sports massage, painful but hopefully good for me. Calves particularly tight, and hip flexors needed loosening as ever.
