Orienteering long (Highlander) 4:46:00 [4] **** 26.2 km (10:55 / km)

I dragged Luehrmann through the woods with me on the entire course. I did the navigation 99% of the time, and the other 1% of the time we followed other orienteerers. Frustrated with this one. I could have done so much better if I would have just been smart and more physically prepared. I got dehydrated so quickly i was worried. I also cramped up and couldnt move at point 25, which scared me because I lost the ability to move my leg. It wasnt just a dull pain or nuisance, but rather my leg legitimately was not following my instructions. I was really glad that after only a minute of stretching that I could move it again.
We made a mistake to point 4 twice, once to our trail intersection and once from our attackpoint. We also were off on point 12, 15 and 18, but those mistakes were less than a minute apeice. Our routes to 21 and 22 and even 23 were terrible as well. I often wasnt differentiating between easier route and physically less challenging route. Thus we often lost time by taking the "quick" way. It may be a quick route for a middle distance, but if you dont have the energy to run the trail, then why go twice the distance?
I have no idea how to truly react to this course, other than the fact that I hated map 1 and 3, hated the elevation changes, hated the rocks that I was consistently stumbling over, hated the brush on map 3 which had trails that were marked that were nonexistent.
